Sun Peaks

Just got back from a couple days in Kamloops... Sun Peaks blew me away. Steep knarl sections and some woodwork. Big improvement from previous years!

hopefully there's enough to soak up the rain we're gonna get this weekend when we visit. It seems like every 3-4 years we get crazy mud up there - I hope its not so bad this time. Oh well, there's always the hot tub

Just got back and it was mint. Sweet One has some really cool new skinnies/log rides on it. One that is pretty cool with about a three foot drop to woodentranny at the end of it. Followed by a wood berm to hip that isn't done yet, but it looks sweet.

Behind Bars is fun. Nut Even is a great trail. If you don't know where it is. I'm not telling. I'll keep that one to myself.

Good times.

Oh man, you missed the good stuff by just a day^^^

Saturday night it rained a fair amount and made for some interesting moments on the steep trails. All the shallower grades were slick but still quite grippy, maybe even moreso than when they had 3" of dust. Getting super wet also made the hot tub that much more enjoyable

But what's up with logging on Sugar? Its gotta be one of the most popular trails up there and its closed for logging? We took a 'look' in there and the trail is mostly intact though. It just seems like weird timing at the peak of the bike season right after they did a bunch of work. Just keep it in mind if you're heading up soon. Ty Trail is also closed.

You can thank good ol Mtn Pine Beetle for that one. Stupid Beetle. Don't think they have much of a choice to log or have the whole resort go to shit because of the frickin beetle.

ahhh, that makes sense. They obviously made efforts to keep the trail in good shape though so thats cool

I heard Sun Peaks is also considering not running the bike park next summer - any truth to that? It'd be a bummer to lose SS or SP but losing both would really blow ultra mega hard

Sun Peaks in the wet... and I mean wet this morning!

Great lessons on how to become a better rider... and lord knows I could use some more skills!
Just trying to stay upright on those steep and tech trails when it is pouring down and rivers are running down the trails in front of you. Pick your lines, stay light on the roots, feather that rear brake and all those other tips we all hear about can really pay off.

Wow! What an awesome experience and training ground!

Another good reminder that for fair weather riders like myself, sometimes it really pays off to just get up and go riding anyway!
