Home Theatre *NBR*

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone of you could give me some help. I am trying to design a home theatre for myself. I currently have a 47 inch, HDTV widescreen tv. Now i am just working on sound. I was wondering if anyone know whats a good system or if you have experience with a peticular system. I currently use paradigm shelf speakers as my personal stereo, but if you know if they are compatible with a different brand for a home theatre. Something upon those lines would be nice.

Thanks for the help. and if any of you know an audio fourm that i could go to, that would be much appreciated as well

i personally enjoy JVC's or Pioneer's sound. JVC has better bass sound but Pioneer has a overall crystal sound. Pioneer is an awesome home theater company. their tv's..

sprinkles who set your system up? they are dumb.. having a woofer behind something cuts the quality in half. same dealio with the speakers. take them out from hiding and put them on stands if they're small enough. put ze woofer behind you.

Pennywise, bass is non-directional.... you can put the sub anywhere and get the same effect

well it still shouldn't make a difference... think of it this way:
when you are driving and some fruitcake is pounding 50cent on his $5000 car audio system, you can't hear the words or anything very well at all, but the one thing you can hear perfectly, even with 3 cars between you, is the bass.

my rear speakers are mounted on the cieling. They're car speakers actually. Might be a good choice if you want to save space.

not quite...it all depends on the layout of the room and materials and stuff. especially with subs the right placement is very important. go walk around you room when the sub is running. you'll notice several sweetspots where tha bass is stronger than other spots due to the sound waves reflecting off the walls and concentrating in certain ares. the best way to find out where to out is to put the sub in the favourite spot on your couch, then check for the sweetspots and out it there.

as for speakers..im set on infinity and harman/kardon products. it not cheap but superb quality. im still using my 1997 minuettes and they still kick ass compared to todays stuff.
