Well for opening night practice we had a good turnout.
Track was soft ,to be expected, but track builder Adam Muys has really honed his skills. Really steep berms and big, high on the exit,a Pro line ,small but steep angles to add a little more fun. You know for those who have never been out,you can still qualify and possibly win in the BC Cup series 4X. We have been starting to give out swag to our racers and the young guy, heck every one like free ,right. Big thanks to those who have donated swag to be given away. I just seen the new frame hand painted for riders draw by NorthShoreBikeShop ,sweet. RaceFace/Norco/Kona/CanadianCartel/YessBikes/AvenueBodyShop in Abby. Shops like VelocityCycles in WalnutGrove/Crankys/Wentings/Obsession/MapleRidgeCycle. They have all given swag ,which will go to you the racer,so get that bike and come join us. G

Final standings as of Jan 29th. FVMBA 4 X SERIES
In the U-13 Boys Joseph Witwicki leads with three wins for 18pts, leaving . Pierce Tibbits tied with Mark Freeman at 14 pts. U15 Boys Jesse Mcleod and Travis Regnier tied for the lead this could go down to the wire on the Feb 19th final tiebreaker. Junior Men Liam Wallace (Morpheus Cycles ) leads this class . Open W. Aja Phillips leads over Kelly Jones and Michelle Benson Open Vet M Dale Murphy tied with Carl Hessberger in this hotly contested class,Todd Hovde third ,ahead of Andrew Carmicheal Martin Newman marked his return with a third last race. He could be a climbing up the rankings. Open Men Hunter Welykhowa leads this class ahead of Andrij Chubaty and Brannon Schmidt and Chris Freeman. Zakhar Okunev in his first race placed second last race.Zakhar could be climbing fast in the standings in this big class. 4X Lites Chris Tenant and Wylie Easton are locked in a tie for the lead, this will most likely go to the wire at the finals on Feb 19th Tiebreaker. Connor Tennant could also figure in the mix with his 1st and 3rd placing in two races. Pro W. Britney White one win. Pro Men Ryan Murphy was looking to win this till Todd Castonguay showed up last race and won . Brian O has maintained his second place but could be pushed out, if Castonguay and Murphy battle the rest of the series out. Bob Jones who was battling hard taking seconds is now out due to injury. Even out BobbiJ is volunteering at the races. It's easy to see it hurts more watching then the pain for Bob. He will be back. Well thats the standing so far , some real close battles going on and the only thing missing is you. Come join us tonight for race #5 g

Really good turnout to the ladies clinic, something like twenty plus women.
Most connected to BMX. One older lady told me that due to a younger new mom rider urging. She was starting to jump. Very proud when she told me. Seems this new mom ( mom of two new riders 3yr old Ryker Ziola and Daylen Z) is a giver. She told me for three months and thirty pounds later ,she has rode every day, every clinic and every race she can. Red hair a blazing and enthusism everywhere, nice. After talking to a couple of missing this year riders it's apparent some are worried about getting hurt. Seems one of the few injuries we have ever had has spooked a few. INdoor is not inherently dangerous and thousands of riders days have resulted in a few injuries. Don't let lifes insecurities scare you. Go to Whistler and look at the amount of riders who ride over their head, and see the results. With only two races left ,tonight and Feb 19th finals ,come out and support or just get one race in . We all have to make decisions, for family and life, don't be afraid of life , if in doubt ,just come and practice. No matter what I do respect your decisions. Finals jerseys will be customized plaques instead,I have told all leaders and everyone is ok with this. Big thanks to the sponsors who have stepped up like RaceFace/Kona/Norco/ChroMag/NorthShoreBikeShop(they have donated a customized bikeframe for rider draw on 19th) Walnut Groves VelocityCycles/ Avenue BodyShop in Abby/MapleRidgeCycle.Todate I have been slowly awarding prizing out,so we shall see as I collect the last of my swag for the finals. A little over a week and this years 4 cross will be over. Thanks Gary Soon as this is done I am working full bore on the new to Abby DJ park just N.E. of the BMX track. Plans are on the S. wall stands at indoor. Today I am off to Sumas ,Chainsaw in hand to continue clearing Squidline,whew....

FVMBA series ender .
Well we had a great nite at the 4x finals, with the younger riders like last year the big winners of swag. The battles raged and the younger riders ,intrigued by the prizes in open boxs under the table. We almost had to push them away at times. ChroMag bars and swag (Thanks ChroMag) wide and so wanted were handed out . RaceFace also donated some bars (Thanks RaceFace) and swag, which were snapped up. Thanks to Stillgoing steveR for making up the series ender plaques at short notice. Norco gear put out and gone just like that. Kona again stepped up and contributed to the kids haul. Cove gear with it's skulls went pretty fast ,nice note Cove actually contacted me and gave swag without even being asked. Big thanks from me. PinkBike gave a lot of stickers and T's as well as "Answer wide bars"and other gear, thanks Pinkbike. Travis from walnut grove of Velocity Cycles sent some swag as well as some cash which we really helps us make our bills, thanks Velocity Cycles. Abby's Avenue BodyShop "Cash4Cash" was a cash award who's big winner was an albertan girl in BMX who had a pinkbike shuttle(as we locals call it) ambulance ride twice last weekend. BobJones was the big 4x winner sad to say (but no worries Bob is on the rebound and will be back stronger) Other 4x winners of this award got the moola with out the hospital stay. It was a little bit of bedlam as especially young riders seen all the awards at the end of the night. Though I did feel a bit like Santa handing out all that swag. To all those sponsors who made me look like a hero big thanks . Tomorrow thursday is the last mtbike practice. Here's what i forgot to raffle! NorthShoreBike shop has donated a beautiful hand painted frame. All those riders who raced last nite ,your name will be put into a container and a name drawn for the frame,to be done at this thursdays practice. The winner will drawn whether there or not. Thanks NorthShoreBikeShop . Keep your eye on www.fvmba.com and www.abbotsfordbmx.ca for pixs of the winners . Well that about does it for me ,come sunday (tracktakedown for this year) my voice will get a chance to heal as announcing is so hard on it. I am happy for all the kids and moms and dads who have come out and raced or practice and sponsor support. Spring is coming fast, hope you had a good time too. Gary
