Bottle cages

To the person or people that have issues fitting bottle cages in their frames - you do know that different bottle cages have mounting holes in different locations so it could be that your particular bottle cage doesn't work well with the frame. I used to have a frame with very low bottle cage mounts and could only use certain cages if I wanted to mount 2 waterbottles.

I have a few rides wearing one of these packs and I really like it thus far. I'm on injured reserve or I would already have a review up. I hope to be back pedalling soon so I can provide some (flawed) insight. Seems a great way to reduce your pack to almost nothing.

I use a MEC backpack which can hold 2-2 litre bladders. I only use one for water and the other bladder pocket is used for repair gear, spare tire etc. Yeah my back gets sweaty but that's ok. I'm prepared if anything goes wrong on the trail and I don't wear it when I'm taking a break.

UPDATE - info on fork choice

I just spoke with Specialized about the decision to spec the Fox 34 fork. Click for the update.

i respectfully disagree with brandon. it may be sufficient in mellow terrain or for lighter or less aggressive riders, but around here most people would gladly take a 1/2 pound weight penalty for a stiffer chassis (that matches the impressive stiffness of the enduro frame) and vastly superior damper (RC2).

save the 34 for the stumpy evo, it needs it.

I want to see some real third party numbers on fork stiffness.

I like how they mention that the 34 is 20% stiffer than a 32...but no mention of how it stacks up against a 36 or Revelation/Lyric/44/55.

Totally.

"The 34 is 20% better than a fork you already think is underpowered and long overdue for a stiffer chassis". Um, good to know.

How much less stiff is a 34 than a 36 by the same test?
Is that an acceptable trade-off for a 0.4lb weight savings?

34 vs 36

Yeah, would be nice to have options..a MZ 55 would make even more sense. Then again, one can always buy just the frame set and do a personal make up. Then again (2) Vouilloz ripped the Megavalanche 2012 until he bent a wheel on his Lapierre with... a 34. Mmmh. If it's good enough for him..
