Yup, no one else was in the area. I swear I heard the kitty say "Shhh. Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits"

The paved trail was uber busy which is why I choose this route.

what an awesome morning for a run...when it's misty like this and the sun is glinting through the trees it's pretty damn nice. Kinda like this.

Can't wait for some of the trails to dry out again. I've cut out the road running (and descending Old Buck) and my knees/hip feel much better for it.

Thank you!!

I just did an easy run on the 16th...no run since then. My body is struggling with an allergic reaction, rash all over, even if it is slightly getting better....plan was different.

Back on track either tomorrow or Friday.

I've been told (and I heeded the advice) that it is good to taper training in advance of Race day.

What I've done, and it may not be the best method, is 2 weeks prior to Race day I do my last "long run". The Sunday before the race (when the race is on Sunday) I've limited my run to between 11km - 13km (for a half). Then I don't run again until race day.

That last week of not running is harder mentally than all the training runs leading up to that point... I was going crazy not doing a mid-week run and felt for sure I'd be stale and slow come race day. I did go for a moderate bike ride on the Tuesday prior (5 days before race day), just to stay active & loose.

But in each instance it's worked out really well.

So remember to think about tapering your training come June 1st if your race is the 15th...

I don't do well in large crowds so I tend to avoid the Sunrun, and Metrotown on weekends.

15 years ago or so I remember it took like 15 minutes of walking before the herd had thinned enough to run. It could only be worse now.

But if you can handle the crowds, give 'er!
