FVMBA film fest and bike draw
http://www.fvmba.com/event/bike-draw-party/
Join us on Thursday, January 31 at 6pm in the Mission Springs Pub! We will be screening some of the hottest Mountain Bike Films of the Year, showcasing local talent as well as a 2012 Feature Film! Movies start at 6pm, with a fresh cask to be tapped shortly thereafter! Also, with the support of Mission Springs Brewery and Wentings Cycle & Mountain Shop, we will be raffling off a Devinci Wilson (or $3000 towards any bike you like from Wentings Cycle & Mountain Shop) during this event. $2 Raffle tickets will be available up until the winning ticket draw! Funds raised go towards supporting the FVMBA in advocating for, maintaining and supporting the network of mountain bike trails in the Fraser Valley. While much of the trails and talent featured in the films will be local, the quality of line-up is world class. Premiering at the festival will be “An Argentina Adventure” by filmmaker Ambrose Weingart and featuring Rocky Mountain riders Wade Simmons, Geoff Gulevich, Thomas Vanderham and Andreas Hestler. We will also be showcasing some very talented local videographers on local trails with the likes of Brock Anderson and Jordan Olthius. We have some videos of local riders Bob Jones and Karla Stowards, as well. Our feature presentation will be “Where the Trail Ends” featuring the world’s top Freeride MTBers searching for un-ridden terrain around the globe, with Darren Berrecloth, Cameron Zink, Kurtis Sorge, James Doerfling & Andreu Lacondeguy. This will also be your last chance to purchase tickets for the Devinci Wilson that has been hanging in the eaves of the Springs for the last few months. Some lucky rider’s name will be drawn and they can take the bike home to introduce Wilson to the rest of the fleet. And let’s not forget what Mission Springs is really good at, and that is great beer. There is a special cask of Cherry Trailblazer Pilsner with the FVMBA name on it sitting in the cellar waiting to be tapped once the event gets underway! The main event will be in the pub side of Mission Springs, though the movies will also be displayed on the restaurant side for groups with minors in tow. All the fun will begin at 6pm on January 31 at Mission Springs Brewing Company and Restaurant.

I think everyone was a little surprised. Great turnout.
The guy that won the bike was happy as a clam. Pretty cool that when called, he jumped in his truck and blasted over. |

What a great time ,I heard if from so many people, during the night.
The beer tasted great and just such a diverse crowd. Talked to Wade a couple of times,Ambrose,Raddick,Ty. Seen some riders I haven't seen in quite a while and lots of women out. Like any good party ,venue size is important. Yes we could of used more room, but the tight quarters made talking to others quite easy. Shoulder to shoulder at times, and nothing but smiles all over. The FVMBA made another impressive showing because our riders ,and supporters came out. Some memberships sold and just a lot of tickets, beer, good food. The more members we have the bigger our pot to supply our builders with. fyi I have counted fifteen builders in Mission ,making this area the most builders I know about. FVMBA gave out over $5300 to our builders last year. This does not include the almost $2K Mof gave us in tools,or the whole amount of spikes we gave out. I have just ordered another 20 50lb boxs. Look for more of these social events to happen ,like group rides ,we love the bike and trails. Don't stand on the sidelines any longer join and support ,those who have ,big thanks. Gary

sigh. |

It was great to see mission springs jam packed like that...it shows them they're getting their money's worth supporting trails in the valley. The only bad part was the cask was all gone by the time I got there so I didn't get to try the cherry trailblazer.
