Sea to Sky Trail - Winter
So anyway I am up in Whistler for a few days this week. No downhill skiing is planned but I will have my nordic skis with me and was wondering what the status of the sea to sky trail is. I didn't bother investigating it in the summer when we were last up there.
Are there any other areas that would work for xc skiing and dog walking (not lost lake or callaghan). Also family friendly (six year old boy in the party) snow shoeing. Cheers,

All the Whistler people are over on the Snow board at this time of the year, maybe ask and read over there?

i snowshoed the section around trash the other day , and while you certainly could travel on XC ( touring type ) gear , the nature of the trail doesn't really favor that mode of travel . fairly tight , twisty , changes in grade , no off trail runouts . . . snowshoes would be better , methinks .
good for dogs down that way as well . anyone you meet will be off lead , not like around other parts of the valley where you don't know what kind of dog crazies you'll encounter . |

That RV has been there since spring. Well dressed and walking a dog probably means she lives just down the road in Cheakamus Crossing. I occaisonally xc up the westside and down the cheakamus lake road crossing at the suspension bridge. Its not trackset or anything, but its free and I can wear my skiis out the front door. I'm thinking one of these fat bikes might be the ticket down here with all the snowshoing that takes place.

I may have to check a fat bike out soon. If I get one I'll let you try it skid.

We've got a Krampus, Pugsley and Moonlander at the Pemberton shop right now for demo - give us a call and you can try them out yourself.

It turns out they are available tomorrow. We're open every day!
The Pugsley and Moonlander are out for a night ride in Whistler, they should be back here by eleven. |
