New to PNW
Just moved to Seattle area and looking to explore DH/ FR/ AM trails in the area within 5 hr drive radius. I'd like to make a weekend out of different areas if possible.
I'd be interested in riding NS, Squamish areas if anyone can show me a few trails one weekend or point me in the right direction. Cheers! Adam |

No shortage of places to ride within 5hrs of Seattle.
I'm told Galbraith in Bellingham is awesome. Around Vancouver, a good place to start is www.trailmapps.com. Iphone map apps for Pemberton, Squamish, Whistler and Hornby. There's also an app for the North Shore: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/loca...524920272?mt=8, which covers much of the material in Wade Simmons' Locals Guide to the NS. I bought both the book and the app since the book includes some suggested loops that I wouldn't have thought of (Cypress AM loops!). The apps allow for some fun exploration without a guide since the GPS function maps you against the trailhead. But some places like Eagle/Burke/Sumas/Vedder you will definitely need someone to show you around. NSRides does organized group rides of all levels on the Shore. Might be a great option if you come up alone and want to see some trails and meet some locals.

Thanks! I'll do some research and hopefully be up there before it gets too cold...
What areas are rideable year round? |

Technically anything south of Whistler is rideable year-round. It depends on what the winter is doing. There have been years where Squamish was rideable in January. Sometimes it's too snowy.
For the most part the Shore is rideable year-round, just very wet in winter. Sometimes the snowline limits access to higher trails. No guarantees.

If you are in Seattle, check out the Evergreen Mtn Bike Alliance site:
http://evergreenmtb.org/home/index.php The people I've met are great! (I've done XC/AM rides with them but I know there is a DH/FR scene down there) Washington has some great riding, by the end of the year I think I'll have done 4 road trips down there. |

If you don't have an iphone, Trevor is doing an awesome job at putting this site together. http://www.trailforks.com/ or m.trailforks.com from your mobile with the option to export the trailmap to googlemaps. Pretty wicked for a free app.

Picked up the maps for for Whistler, Squamish and North Shore and signed up with Evergreen thanks for the links! Evergreen has a great Wiki. Rode Tiger Mountain the weekend that it closed, pretty fun trails.
I have hit up Duthie Hill which is a great place for a few hours and planning to hit up Bellingham soon. Increasing my radius... BC tip soon! |
