Yes dirt bikes have gone through the wheel size issues.

50's and 60's some bikes had the same size front and rear wheels.

Fronts have been 19, 21, and 23. Rears have are 17, 18, and 19.

Off-road generally run large diameter wheels than track bikes.

The biggest thing will be when you all actually get to ride these bikes on your home turf. Riding a 29" vs. 26" vs. 650B without listening to what you are supposed to feel.
How many of you have actually ridden a 650B bike?...

I've ridden a 650b hardtail, liked it a lot...but then again I still really like my 26" wheeled reign, it's a lot of fun too. bikes are pretty rad, ride what you want, and stfu about it.

I've ridden a number of 650B bikes, even more 29ers, and my conclusion is that a well-designed bike is going to ride awesome no matter what. Now I'm going to go ahead and put a front brake on my dirt jump hardtail, and go have fun on the mountains.

exactly... at the end of the day if your bike lets you enjoy the ride on whateva trails you run, then thats ALL that matters..

who cares what some "insiders" are saying about the future/past of certain size tires.

*Industry guy*

Having ridden prototypes of the 2013 Rocky Mountain Altitude in all 3 wheel sizes for several months last winter/spring, my personal opinion is that the 27.5 version was the best riding of the bunch. Didn't give anything up on the 26" and of course felt livelier that the 29.

The Altitude 29 I rode with 150mm of travel was a big beast...fun but too much travel for the wheel.

I did 3 lower laps on Fromme yesterday on the hardtail with one brake just to test the waters. Definitely gonna pop a front brake and some fatter tires on there, and giv'er!
