Most people in BC (Canada?) haven't tried good tequila, almost all of the tequila sold by the BCLDB is mostly some regular alcohol (corn?) with a small portion of tequila for flavour.

You need to find tequilas made from 100% Agave.

If you ever do a side by side taste test of the good vs. bad, you'll never drink the crappy stuff again.

Take a look at the selection available in the Washington liquor stores next time you are down there.

I could have sworn I saw some Tres Hermanos and Cabo Wabo in BC (could have been in Canmore
though).

Being 100% Blue Agave isn't the only criteria. From the horrible tequilas that add caramel
color to make it "anejo" to how how the pina is processed. A good tequila starts with
a properly ripened pina and it should be chopped by hand before "cooking" and "juiced".
To get more sugar from the pina, most of the big guys will use a machine to chop the pina
into very small pieces. The flavor gets messed up during the cooking/roasting process
and you get more caramelizing which creates a bitter taste in the end. Also, where they
get their barrels from makes a difference too.

Good tequila needs no lime, lemon or mix and it doesn't need salt. Straight up, maybe

Could you imaging taking a bottle of 21 y/o scotch and adding a mixer or lemon? If you
