We're stoked on the Colololssal and Warnerd, but our frame recommendations, as with all bikes, are going to be driven by your intended usage and your particular fit and physiology. There are going to be an awful lot of options in the steel disc all-rounder category to choose from this season, and I'm sure that we'll be able to get you on the perfect bike regardless of brand!

Side note: I've got a date with the only Surly Krampus in Canada this weekend, and I cannot freaking wait to get the Salsa Beargrease up in here!
I see the Colololssal has super short stays, do you think it would handle CX riding?

That sportif-oriented chainstay length translates into 28c tire clearance max. No sale!

The head tube length is also on the generous side, which is perfect for all-day road riding, but for 'cross, you want to be able to get down low and put all your weight on the front end when cornering off-road on pinner 'cross knobbies. The 70mm bottom bracket drop is also more geared towards a low center of gravity and all-day stability as well.

Also, the Surly Krampus blew my mind on Burnaby Mountain yesterday. Ho-lee-shit that bike likes to go fast! I was cleaning stuff I'd never thought possible, and did not miss having suspension in the slightest. Very poppy, playful, and BMX'y overall. I was riding a preproduction sample with a non-stock build kit, but the bike is shipping with Avid mechanical disc brakes, and that was my one real gripe: with that much traction on hand, and a bike that likes to get that buck wild on the trail, hydraulics will be a very welcome upgrade on the descents.

Time to derail the thread a bit. Hey Old school noob, Was the Krampus sitting in Mighty last week? I thought I saw a surly with that name on the frame. Awesome impressions. Too many bikes to buy though.

I had a friend buy this one:http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...illa.htm#specs
Not steel frame but a cheap one and budget commuter/race bike.

It's still hanging out at the shop until our Surly distributor rep gets back from Interbike to pry it back out of our cold, dead hands. Hopefully I'll be able to take it for a Fromme rip this weekend and see how it wants to get down when it's out of its cross-country comfort zone. Awesome impressions, indeed, though: 29+ is the truth!

My god. Now I can die in peace knowing that I've seen the ugliest bike ever.

Same way you tell him his girl is ugly. It will just slip out one night after a couple of beers.

The Geo looks good and it looks like you can get it in all sorts of colors.

What size would I ride?

Shand bikes?

Has anyone posted these guys yet? Was looking at their site then remembered this thread.

http://www.shandcycles.com/frames/cy...oshie-gallery/

Wee Scottish brand, the Stooshie is one of the nicest looking steel disc CXers I've seen.

Monstercross bikes aren't supposed to be pretty. Much rather see more people riding bikes then sitting in their 4 door mobility chair.
