Not too familiar the CCDB but it sppears to have a relatively small bottom out bumper. Putting in a bigger bumper or an additional one should limit the shock enough. The Rockshox bumpers for the Vivid shock are pretty big and they come in different durometers.

Anyone want to buy a 2011 Range 1?
What about an unmounted Brand New CCDB Air 8.5x2.75?

lol
What bike runs an 8.5x2.75 shock? 8.5x2.5 is really common, 8.75x2.75 less so but what did you get the inbetweener size for?

Also contact SW, I seem to recall someone mentioning that James can change shock stroke in the CCDBs. It's worth asking at least.

I was actually thinking if one was running a coil spring.....if you change the stroke it would still be the same spring.

but going on the sag percentage. 30% sag on a difference of a 1/4" stroke on a 3:1 leverage suspension would still only increase the sag by roughly a 1/4" at the rear wheel......so figure an 1/8"(roughly 3mm) of inch at the bb. I guess steve would notice a 3mm drop in bb height but most wouldn't. For me this would be a non-factor and would actually be seen as a plus.

As for damping, I think 30%(most designs give you a window of recommended sag) of a 1/4" would be tough to tell.....but hey maybe your just that good.....lol. Half cut right now, so please allow for any mistakes in my math or spelling or grammar.

either way, i think one would be grasping at straws to tell the difference.

Bryan - Linkage would have repetitively smashed the seat tube upon compression.

Feral - Range with a shock from a Truax

for me, this would be the only concern in over stroking a suspension design.

get a custom internal spacer made for the shock and you're good to go.

Well somehow no one's made an "over-stroking" joke yet, this is very disappointing. Especially for you, buster, are you ok?

When the village idiot is sleeping off his hangover in a dank back alley, do you kick him awake to see him rampage through the populace just for the fun of it?

It would work, unless the OP got the shock because he wanted the extra travel.
