Can't stop clicking on this thread to stare at your bike.
I'm really tempted to pick up an of angle-set for mine. How much difference in handling is there between the stock setup with a 180mm fork and with the angle-set? Do you think the offset bushings or the angle-set make the bigger difference? |

^^ I never tried it with a 160mm fork but the 180mm Totem with a straight 1.5 headset was 66.5 degrees according to a friend's iphone, which felt kinda steep to me.
The angleset changed the HA by -1.3 degrees and the BB height by maybe 1/8". The offset bushing changed the HA by maybe -.3 degrees and dropped the BB by 1/4". I guess I'd say the angleset made the bigger difference, but the bushings were definitely noticeable and only $40 or so off ebay. |

Ride it don't hide it. I've got one bike. Good or bad - don't care. Its not light (over 32 lbs) but it does it all whether it/I wants to or not. I am not butter smooth. I don't pick the best line, and I don't always make the transition. So far it hasn't complained. 2011 Giant Reign X2.

What do you think of the monarch plus. Just picked up a new AM rig but the shock is horrid (Monarch R). Going to pick up a new shock but can't decide what to go for. Thinking either Fox or maybe even DB air but could be temped with something else.

Lorien I am curious to hear your thoughts on the El Moco tire. I've been running a BBG this season as a rear tire and it's been amazing in the dry on my 150mm bike.
The El Moco has the same side knob but more tread in the centre, could be a good winter / wet season tire replacement for my BBG.

just put it on yesterday, so it's a little early to be making too much of a statement. I been looking at these tyres for awhile now and my Michelin 2.2 wild rock'r was getting pretty hagard, so I bit the bullet.
It's a 2.1 UST/DTC set up ghetto tubeless. Generally I like a rear tyre with interrupted side lugs, (like the michelin) for swingin the back end around. Based on my extreme commute, this tyre definitely carves and won't wash out too easy, and it certainly rolls pretty fast. It's gonna take some getting used to, with it resisting washout and all. Small size keeps the bb low, but it won't roll over stuff quite as well as a larger diameter tyre. The way my ride is set up, I need to have a larger diameter up front and smaller in the back. |
