recommend me some gloves

for the oncoming colder seasons. Last year I used mechanics gloves, pretty good but on the colder days I had frozen fingertips and they were not water repellent at all.

I've got some Gore gloves, super rad. A little chunky, but rad. i use them to climb and then throw on my regular summer gloves to descend.

Specialized Sub Zero. Bulky, but you can ride up with the inner glove only and put on the outer glove for descending. The outer glove can be a PITA to put back on. Maybe that's been fixed with the new design, though, I've got old ones.

I also have a pair of Gore gloves and they were brilliant last year. Didn't find them too bulky and used them straight through.

XC ski gloves, add thin merino liners for very cold days. Merino liners with a waterproof shell for the very wet days.

MEC kayaking gloves. Your hands will still get wet but they will be warm. Word of caution you will only get one season out of them as they will rot. Safe Riding.

Gore from On the Rivet. Hands-down (hah!) the best gloves I've ever owned. Sealskinz are nice for those really wet days, but I found that the wind slices right through them when the temperature drops.

The Giro Pivot gloves in this review are still going strong. Took the stink out by filling them with baking soda for a couple days. Best case, don't leave your gloves in a wet heap.

quarter cup of vinegar in the sink with your favorite detergent should get rid of the funk.
