We rode the TotWT (top of the World Trail) last week. It was good. Surprising the first part of that trail sure makes you pay attention, then as you go along it gets easier and easier. But, yeah, didn't the first part was a total walk in the park. Maybe it's just the shock of getting off your ass after sitting down for the past twenty plus minutes to get up there, but whatever the reason, the first part was definitely more than I thought it was going to be after reading some of the reviews.

Looks like they're continually opening more and more sections of trail, so hopefully by next year it'll be closer to full single track.

Views were killer too! Of course. Trail was good. $15 to experience it is a pittance compared to all the rest of the money we shell out to get there, be there, and our equipment price. We gladly paid the $15.

Wish I had more time to research some of the other trails that come off TotWT before going though as we might have done it twice to experience some different stuff.

Worthwhile doing again.

Just gotta give a shout out to the hero in the red jersey last Saturday that I watched from the top, while hiking the peak with my kids. That was a killer line you took -- carefully avoiding every bit of groomed trail, cutting every corner, and stomping some serious alpine flowers. You rock dude!! A few more laps down there and we'll have some proper braids so everybody can pick their own line, and not be stuck riding what "the man" says we should ride.

Or maybe WBP will just say fuck it and close the peak down to biking. Nice work, idiot.

Whistler Bike Park has it's share of rock stars who think the rules don't apply to them. That's why some riders are choosing other bike parks.

You guys are smoking crack, the trail was mad decent. The views were superb and I could barely pay attention to the riding itself. A must if you're at the bike park. Don't just blast your way down the trail either, I rolled and coasted most of it just to serenade in the beauty

I had to keep reminding myself to either stop to look, or ride my bike. Kept trying to do both, which is not a good idea at the top.

The trail itself was about what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 'fireroad' section was a lot more enjoyable than I had expected. Overall very happy I spent the extra few bucks.

When I bought the pass the guy asked immediately "are you an expert rider? can you ride double black runs?" and to be honest I was a little intimidated, because most double black runs on Whistler kick my ass a little bit. Yes, the first bit is a little bit exposed but I didn't feel it was difficult really at all. You just plunk along carefully. It probably helps that I was freaked out about getting pinch flats the whole time (Schwalbe Hans Dampfs with tubes) so I didn't go terribly quick.

Yes. I rode it for the second time on Saturday and there is more trail added. Some really tall berms down a pretty steep pitch of ground. It was super fun, reminded me of some of the trails at Silverstar. Basically it removes a bunch of Highway 86 between the Khyber and RDS trailheads.

Yes there was a section opened between the top and cut off to Khybers Pass sometime between Crankworx and Sept 7/8th.

Not sure on below that. I think it's still a fair bit of cat road back to the park.

I wasn't blown away, but for the marginal cost of the ticket I'd say give it a go. They also asked me "are you an expert rider" when I asked for the ticket, I said "yes". I can see why - it is challenging at the top, tight switchbacks and short but steep sections and loose shards'o rock everywhere. But the tough section isn't too long. Nice scenery, it'd be a great place to take a sandwich and a beer and relax once the steep bit is done with.

You don't get into any areas that you can't easily walk to from the Peak chair, so if all you want is the scenery you could do a walk-on instead and leave the bike at home.

OK, I rode ToW yesterday. As far as being an experience, yes it is worth the $15. If you are from Out of Town (as we call anyone who doesn't ride much on mountains), you should try it once for sure. As far as being a great Whistler bike park trail, I'd say not really. I mean the trail is nice, the scenery is spectacular, but if you want a heart-pounding rush, its not that kind of trail. If you asked "Is it worth $15 to ride just once?", I'd say "yes". Without hesitation. If you are a WBP regular and asked "I have a couple of hours to live and will spend them at WBP. What do you recommend I ride ToW and nothing else?" I'd say "no".

The trail is beautifully built and designed and I'd rate the trail as all-mountain or advanced XC (its pretty much all downhill), but almost nothing gnarly, nothing steep and no features, other than mountain scenery and sweet flow, to set your pulse racing or take your breath away.
