So the frame has resurfaced. It was bought by an unlucky guy who brought it in to Dizzy. He's a customer of theirs and a good guy who just got burned a bit. What does NSMB think I should do now?

when i saw that frame for sale on pb the price seemed too good to be legit. buyer should have had a similar reaction, given the state of bike theft in the lower mainland - and at least done some research to see if someone had mentioned a recent theft.

i think you should gratefully accept the frame back, and the buyer should gracefully accept a lesson learned

So I got my frame back. I recovered it from the RCMP last week. The guy who had it gave it to the RCMP without rear shock or RWS axle. It was also missing proprietary headset parts, ICGS adapter, downtube cable guides and derailleur hanger (all specialty parts not usable for any other frame). Not only that, but the upper pivot through the seat tube was wickedly damaged: they'd opened it up, totally ovalized the bore and reassembled it without all the correct parts. Basically they tried to render the frame unusable.

Well fuck them too.

I managed to procure all the necessary parts from Lou@Obsession. James@Obsession took two hours out of his day last Friday to skillfully get the main pivot working again. Not sure if the frame's permanently damaged or not, but so far it's working well.

Here's how I received it:

Here is it now, after $300 in specialty parts and $2k+ of everything else:

32lbs, 66' head angle, and ultimately bad-ass. Got out for a few shakedown rides over the weekend and am very impressed. It's even better than before! I've got a KS Lev on order which should be here this week.

The RCMP says that once they formally charge these cocksuckers they can release their names at which point I will do my best to make sure they are the most well-known names in our little community.

It's a sick person who steals a high end bike, strips it down, fucks it up for no good reason and then sells it as if it were operational. Ensuring that two people get screwed instead of one!

So it looks like the RCMP will be pressing charges against the original thief, who is well-known to them already and had dozens of other high end bikes in his possession. Can folks on the North Shore keep their eyes open and look through the North Shore News and other local weeklies for information about who this guy is? The RCMP couldn't tell me his name but they said it'll all go public in the next week.
