Partly agree. I run 105, trail/firm instead of 100, 4-6 clicks on RLC. CTD better after vacuum bleed but still too linear for my tastes. I prefer RLC damper, more adjustable to suit terrain and compression can be finely increased as cartridge retention deteriorates with increased time from last bleed. Marzocchi aficionados may like CTD.

going to stick them on my rune for a compareandcontrast, and if all goes well i hope to use them to race the 4kings. i've no doubt they're less stiff than the float but at a buck fifty i'm not really pushing my gear all that hard so maybe i won't notice the difference? down the line they're likely destined to be dropped to 5in and put on my samurai... unless a certain new prospect develops...

so i did, and it did, and so i did. really impressed with the rev (blackbox dual air): easy to setup, good on big and small hits and seemingly very controlled under braking and multiple high-speed impacts. the only time i can say i noticed the reduced stiffness was on the dh day of the 4kings, where the front end seemed to get pushed around a bit more in chunder and in the corners. but, i don't plan to race dh (on these [much]), and i definitely appreciate the reduction in weight. i'm going to keep them on the rune until my new spitfire frame arrives, at which point i look forward to using them to build up a nice light 5" jetfighter trailbike

Thanks for the update. I also ended up getting a Revelation (World Cup Dual Air) only installed it a couple of days ago, but early impressions are really positive; great damping, really plush on the small stuff but handles bigger hits well, and it dropped nearly 2lbs compared to the 36 Vans I had on there before.

Haven't done enough miles to comment on the stiffness or lack thereof, but the couple of Squamish laps I've done so far have been fine.

Interesting. I noticed almost exactly the same thing Clark. What do you weight all geared up? Last ride I did was 95 psig in the air spring and left the damper in T. Still a bit harsh in the early beginning stroke, and a bit wallowy in the mid-stroke. I also noticed the 34 is a bit twangy in the fore-aft direction.

I'm 190 naked. Damper is hard to figure out. Add 2 psi and it goes from divey to slightly less divey but very harsh. Still, it seems desperate to use all it's travel on every ride. Feels slightly less linear after a vacuum bleed but still have to ride in T setting to keep the front end up. I hope they redesign it next year, or else make 34mm RLC cart's more available.

There's a new rockshox fork coming that will be very popular I think.

Something between the Revelation and Lyric I assume?

I did a full oil change on my Revelation before the weekend and it felt great on everything from XC to DH.

Makes sense then, I'm about 10lbs lighter. Hopefully with some air pressure fiddling and using the Trail setting I'll find a happy medium. I saw Fox has a three position trail adjust feature on some of the 34s. Anyone had a go on one and got any feedback?

FullMonty, yes the fork is on a 650 Range.

This is one of the reasons I went away from Fox suspension. I always though that the coil forks were too linear, and the float forks were too finnicky to find their sweet spot (I won't even start on the talas).

I have a 34 with the 3 position CTD. I've been really stoked on it so far and coming from a Float 32, the 34 seems a fair bit more substantial. I initially rode the fork in the D setting and played with the air pressure until it was where I wanted and the fork was breaking in. I now ride it in the lightest T setting and it seems balanced between small bump compliance and not bottoming.

Is that on your Xprezo? If so, is your Revelation the one with travel adjust? You recommend travel adjust for the Super D?

Yes on my Super-D. No travel adjust. I don't feel it's needed on that bike at 150mm.

I am not a fan of travel adjust.

FullMonty, yes the fork is on a 650 Range.
interesting, so the fork on that only has the single setting in trail mode. It's probably the one thing that weirds me out about the spec on the 2013 range 1, the dummy damper in the fork.
