Cool vid! Did you ride from the valley or shuttle up? How did the mission take? And how hard is the route finding (sounds like you had a bit of a diversion)?

climbing from the valley in 35oC heat didn't sound appealing so we shuttled to the upper tower this time.

It took about 4 hours, 2 hours riding time. 500m climbing, 1500m descending in 16km

We climbed up from the valley last October. It took us about 7 hours?
I don't have the complete stats for that.

You could also just drive to the paralaunch and climb up middle earth to the upper towers and continue on.

There is a junction after the first steep downhill. Easy to miss although there is a ski nailed to a tree at the intersection. So watch out for that!

The intersection is on a pretty fast section, RIGHT is JTR, LEFT takes you to the Chain Lakes trail, which is also supposed to be good, and will spit you out on the other side of Mt. Currie. So if you did this by mistake, you'd have a long road ride ahead of you!

Bring your A game.

Thanks Sharon. What is the current condition of JTR? Loose and dusty? And does the trail flow or is it steep fall line/elevator shaft style?

We just got back from riding it. 5hrs exactly bottom of Happy Trail to bottom of Reid Road, taking quite a few short breaks.

What a great trail though, the chutes and rockrolls are definitely high-end but perfectly doable. The last fast flowy section is awesome. Well worth the grueling 3 1/2-4hr climb

riding some of those steep loose sections reminding me or riding sluff in winter!

Here's some footage from today too. Kind of a rushed edit so excuse the non-smooth frame transitions etc!

Such a fun trail. It should be on everyone's list that has a chance to make it up here.

Thanks. Yeah videos are notoriously bad for making everything looks mellow and easy! If you can clean Cop Killer and everything on PhD(including the rarely ridden upper portion), there's no problem with JTR. Almost easier to ride the gnarly sections rather than walk, some sketchy hikes for others in the group!
