I think I will run either clutch control 2.3 or purgatory 2.2 up front, but am I tempting fate showing up with a ground control on the rear? Set up with stans on flow rims.

Butcher sx has noticably softer rubber than 60a HR2 and I prefer it in wet conditions. Haven't tried softer versions of HR2 but I'm sure they're slower, heavier, and more awesome.
Butcher control is a bit more firm and is much more easily deflected in thunderous terrain, so a bit skittish in wet conditions.
Ground control is awesome if you can get away with that casing in the rear.

Spot on.

If they made a Ground Control SX I'd be running that on the back and Butcher SX front.

yeah i would love a purg sx or something with a bit more protection on the rear. top of the world/schleyer/foreplay/no flow are all tire shredding tube popping places.

Dub in the Dark

Went and rode the Dub in the Dark course tonight using Tony's notes. I think Tony got Packard Goose and Satisfied mixed up as that would have the course crossing twice.

Here's the GPS trace of the ride.

I'm thinking that my bad choice is going to be worse. At least it has a dropper post and real tyres, but I'm wondering how bad I will be demolished on a hardtail.

no dropper post is a big mistake I'd argue....there's so much up and down on the sectors!
