No because I look 1000x better with a skate lid with a NOFX sticker on it.

At today's exchange rate they cost $581 CAD... It seems a tad pricey for something that ought to deploy in a crash situation.
My current helmet cost $70 and is guaranteed to deploy. |

cool technology, I'll stick to a normal bucket though. some people have more vanity and will like this product, i can see it doing well in Europe

Does seem like a very cool idea but I see two problems:
- It's quite similar to the PFD's that deploy when they get wet. You deploy one of those things by accident it is a hassle! I could see this being the same, especially if it is single use (I didn't get all the way through the video). - You will look like one of those tools who refuses to wear a bike helmet because they think it is dangerous or ruins their hair or something. That said, it does reduce some of the risk of people riding with helmets after a crash. |

glad the girls have found something to do with their time , other than cooking , washing , cleaning . .. j/k of course
maybe they can see a market , and no doubt they put a lot of time and energy into their project , but i can't see it having a major influence on whether or not people will ride bikes more , especially at 581 $ . good luck to them though . i think the cycling community has widely embraced helmets . they have gotten way better since the old days of the bell V1 in terms of weight , effectiveness , ventilation and style . funny thing , i would normally never ride without a bucket , but i showed up to a 160 km fondo a while back only to find i had left my helmet behind . didn't even occur to me to not do the ride . . . stuck a ball cap on backwards instead . had only a few people make a comment . |

It's not exactly invisible though is it. The same people who don't want to ride with a helmet won't ride with a big puffed up collar around their neck either.
A lot of the people I've met who won't wear a helmet are doing it more for rebellion then for fashion. |

Totally agree with Patrolskid...however I do see this type of innovation coming for certain sports that have high impact. Maybe out of a simple vest that would help protect your body more int he event of a big crash. A normal helmet is comfortable, airy and most people have accepted them as a smart choice...cool innovation though and we probably will see more of this type of stuff in the future..

They look good with a winter jacket but may be not so good just with a T-shirt. Aesthetics aside, anything that encourages the use of mote head protection has to be a good thing, and who knows where this technology could go with more research and design, certainly costs would go down.
The degree of head protection also looked to be more all encompassing that a regular hard shell and I wonder if there is any greater protection against next injuries? Great initiative.

i think it would need some sort of harness to keep it down snug next to the shoulders for there to be any protection for the c-spine .
and maybe i didn't pay close enough attention . . . how was it triggered ? |

The biggest problem would be your so-called "buddies" trying to make the airbag inflate on your head while riding.

Nor does it really fit the definition of "helmet"!
But "neck-mounted airbag" just doesn't look cool in the marketing brochures, so a little creative semantics (aka lying) is the name of the game! Kn.
