we had a shuttle day for a friends stag yesterday, was pretty wet out but the trails rode pretty well....a few laps on Res and it was dry under the wet top cm or two.....'trout was good too, tree down on the first part before the first junction to look out for. Hit the trombone and blood sweat and fear....great day even if wet and a bit messy!

contour, but yeah, zero justice! 4:12 isn't that bad, just let go and roll it out, the one just after that with the left/right/steep off camber roots in the middle on the other hand.....

Riding up in Pemberton this weekend with a mixed group so my usual loop is out.

Suggested loop for a group of mixed levels?

one mile! up S2S trail, lumpy's climb -> K2 -> pioneer -> pickled surprise - 1.5 hrs.

Do another loop - s2S trail -> lumpy's climb -> lumpies -> back up to bottom of K2 somehow and out

i wouldn't take a mixed group up lumpy's, pretty burly climbing.

did pickle surprise ever get finished? somehow the sign and trailhead got built before the rest of the trail was finished. if not, there are much better ways to finish that descent.

You can bypass most of the nasty climbing on lumpy's on the new s2s trail, its takes you close to the switch backs then people can easily push. The views are worth it.

I don't know what Pickle looked like before they started working on it, but it was pretty fast and flowy when we did it!

Just Lumpy's itself would be a good ride too.

Hey Craig - Not sure what you're usual loop is or how 'mixed' your group is - but I'd suggest skipping Indy and Hawaii and keep climbing to Bob Gnarly instead. It's only another 5-10min up Nimby.

I was out with a 'mixed' group of girls a few weeks ago and one of them suggested it. Even though it's marked double black, it's just a fast, swoopy descent with no major obstacles. It has 1 or 2 steeper sections, but it's much easier than Indy, Hawaii, or BSF.

Then as already suggested, head back up Waco to Mosquito Lake or Radio Tower to Crosstown Traffic. Radio Tower to Night Rider/ Moosejaw / MI is another option - there are just 1 or 2 sections people may need to walk.

Jim Jam was a pretty fun intermediate descent I accidentally ended up on last summer- but I don't know if there are options to climb trail back up. We just climbed Reid Rd - not ideal.

I'll stay out of the Lumpy's debate. Personally I loved it and am itching to go back and explore some of the other new trails in there! But yeah, it's some techy hard climbing

Have fun!

Hey all,
Pickle Surprise is a complete trail now. There is a new section being built that is a reroute of the bottom third section that is steeper than the rest of the trail. Once the new section at the bottom is complete (hopefully a week from now), the idea is that it will be an intermediate flowy trail. A type of trail that Pemby lacks in my opinion.
As Sharon said "one mile! up S2S trail, lumpy's climb -> K2 -> pioneer -> pickled surprise - 1.5 hrs"
This is a super fun loop, fast and flowy all the way down.

One of the better quick laps out there!

Rode three days in Pemby this weekend. Wow, amazing trails. Climbed Happy, Waco, Nimby all the way to the top of Stimulus and rode down Upper Mackenzie Cruise (holy steep), Waco, Indy 500. Shuttled Saturday and rode Overnight, Psychopath, 8 Seconds then went up again and rode Overnight to BSF and finished off the day with a little PHD. Rode Sunday and did Ressurectum and that is the cat's meow. Probably one of the funnest sections of trail I've ever ridden. Can't wait to go back.
