good job starting out on a hardtail its the best way in my opinion it teaches you to hit the smoothest fastest lines and learn proper bike control. And if you do ever switch to a full suspension in the future you will be thankful for that and than really start to shred, keep it up man!

lol, how would you be being trolled?

I'm already eyeing a Slayer 50... but love riding my kona hardtail in the meantime and will continue to use the hardtail for XC and likely Test of Metal etc

I agree, good to learn on this and then have a good understanding of lines etc.

will return to my post under a bridge

We all started there and most of us still have days like that!!

Think about taking an Endless Biking clinic. It's great going out with buddies, but good riders aren't necessarily good teachers. Sometimes a minor change in body position and a little tweak here and there can make a huge difference and once you gain a bit of confidence, things progress a lot quicker.

I am not new to the bicyclings and generally fall down at least as much as you did. Either I'm doing something very wrong, or very right!

The best gear purchase I ever made was a jock-strap.

When going down steeps, saddle all the way down & weight near the rear of bike. Tire pressure around 25 or 30 on wet days. May be hard to believe, but speed is your freind. Alot of crashes happen at low speed.

Update - been riding a LOT trying to improve. Figured out the "momentum" thing a bit and learned to pop off the lips rather than roll them all. Anyways, here's a little diddy and of course there are a few good crashes!

I know its the trendy thing to only where knee pads, but theres nothing wrong with a full shin/knee. I ride shin/knee troylee pads, maby its just cause I am into the dirtjump trickery but I find i bash up my legs way more than i do my knees. I hate pedal bite.

Some may disagree but clipless pedals make everything more fun.
