I've lurked on this site in the past, and of my friends who keep me abreast of things out there in bike-land, they've always sent links to PB, but having looked at PB, I agree - younger crowd, more stupidity and so forth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some mature snob, far far from it. I just like the vibe here because there's some experience here. I'm clocking in at 41, and I wanted to know - of this forum - who, like me, is still horndoggin' for the thrill of the DH.

Somewhere between 18 & 36, don't care for the bike park. Last year was my career best at 3 days.

While I'm not sure that the sample size here makes things only vaguely statistically significant (and knowing the good folks at W-B/Tourism Whistler who probably have far deeper research on the matter), it does make an interesting case for opening some of their strategic partner and sponsor opportunities.

Advil? Degree? Toyota? Given the demo's I'm seeing here there's a huge opportunity for real engagement by sponsors. I'm not talking about the Crankworx types, I'm talking about Dave Downhill, 38. Works professionally, has a family, but loves to hit the park on a Saturday. That kind of passion is huge, and to be part of it in a credible way speaks volume to a brand.

i'm surprised they don't have a seniors rate, as they do for the winter time.

My dad got his first seasons pass at the age of 65 and did so till he was 70, paying full pop everytime. He now gets a seasons pass at Silver Star where things are a tad more friendly and the attitude is a bit more chill. He still banged in 10 days Whistler with another 30 at SS.

I skipped a pass last year but find myself longing to get one this year and get the day count up. I'm only 44, so I'm not old like IFO....

I find Whistler is a great way to get the skills up or stop them from fading. Not many places where you can bang in the laps and hit countless jumps on each run.

you guys should try motos, totally revamped my love of two wheels. after riding mtb for 15 years I was burnt out

I've been riding mtbs for nearly 20 years and love it more and more every year.

Hey, for this thread to get your 2nd post is pretty worthy!!!! Enjoy the inspiration - PM me if you're interested in joining up with a couple 40 year olds from the area who'll be hitting the park this season. I've been on a 10 year hiatus from the DH, and nowadays it's ALL about the vicarious, er, conspiratorial* inspiration.

Ditto. The only time I got a bit burnt out was when I moved back to Australia for awhile and there was no off season. Now I take a 2 month break every year whether I'm forced to or not and every spring I'm rabid again.
