It doesn't really compare to Heritage except for the fact its not a Super D. Red has one main climb consisting of fire road/double track/single that takes you up to the top. The climb up is wide enough so there can be passing opportunities.

You'll hit Crazy 8's at the top. This trail is old school technical single track. High canapy, tight loamy fun with sections rocks and roots. Kinda like how the shore used to be before bikes got lots of suspension and guys realized they can huck things. If you are a strong technical rider, you should do well on Crazy 8's.

Crazy 8's basicly does a loop at the top of the mountain. You'll hit the fire road again , which loops you back around again, this time sending riders into Big Red / Better Red and Momentum. These trails are wide open, big ring, downhill, single track trails. One can hit 40-45km/h in some sections. They will take you to the finish line at the bottom.

The race is around 14km. Should take the average guy/gal around an hour to complete.

The snows all gone and I am heading out this afternoon to mark the course. As long as nothing gets tampered with, the course will be clearly marked for everyone thats coming out to pre-ride on Saturday.

The trails are pretty beat down. They used to be a lot better maintained until the last few years.

Hopefully there won't be quite as much mud as at Heritage.

Didn't bring the snorkle but wish I had. It was wet!!! Then cold.... and then a white out of sleet from mid Valley View all the way to halfway down Better Red. There was a bit of accumulation on the ground but I don't anticipate it sticking around though.

We will still be racing. Rain or Snow. So dress accordingly. You don't have to worry about getting too dirty. There are several drive through bike washes strategically placed through out the race course. Red Mnt has a lot of hard pack and rock so the mud was actually not as bad as I had expected.

Well it snowed hard as we drove out from Abby this morning,but racers began arriving and never stopped.
Over 50 + racers ,raced off to a Leman's start.
Led out by the always fast Bart Brown,apparently even without his bike.
A shortened course where technical skilled riders looked good.
Lots of swag , and hungry racers eating up those burgers and smokies.
The sun came out and the snow started to melt fast.
FVMBA race series continues,with what is looking to be a smiling hard core crowd .

Sumas FVMBA race in two weeks is going to be epic.
