I think the merger has already happened a while back. Bob Rae used to be the NDP premier of Ontario.

He won an election against a very much hated Liberal Premier, David Peterson (who called an early election because the economic forecasts for the coming year were bad). And doesn't everyone seem to hate McGuinty too?
