Also for Vancouver people, Pemberton and Whistler are easy weekend destinations. There are not a lot of good hotels in north van and nowhere to camp so its a bit of a hassle to come here for a weekend unless you have friends you can stay with. Much easier to make a weekend in whistler.

so it looks like North Van events are even more "locals only" than Whistler Enduro style events
that is not a great situation even for out of town people who want to try North Van trails purely for recreation
for those that don't want to couch surf, maybe more mtn bike specific B&Bs?
