Aluminium Salvage
Has anyone tried to take bike parks to a scrap metal yard?
I have a bunch of old crap I need to of load. |

My friend collects dead rims and other parts, occasionally frames, and takes them to Capital Salvage in the alley behind JJ Bean on Victoria and Powell. The return isn't great but if you've got enough you'll probably buy yourself lunch.

Yeah, the return really isn't that good. I had a broken set of car rims (think 70+ lbs of aluminum) and I got $35 or so from it. Start saving your bike parts!

I got $.80 for a destroyed bike rim + spokes and nipples. The place was in Penticton though.

its around 0.55 per pound so do the math. Steel is around .20 - .23 per pound but has a higher weight per volume.

its more fun to cut the frames into a pile of pipes and pay a few hobos to beat each other with said pipes.
