NORTH VANCOUVER — The North Vancouver RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man who allegedly stole a $3,500 mountain bike from a North Vancouver business Wednesday, police said today.

The suspect entered entered Steed Cycles on Marine Drive in North Vancouver around noon Wednesday. After leaving what was perceived to be credible identification, the suspect took the bike for a test drive and did not return, RCMP said in a press release.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 40 to 50 years old, about 5' 11" with short light brown hair. He wore a black fleece head band, Arcteryx windbreaker jacket (black on top and green on bottom), green cargo style pants and green/brown hiking style shoes.

The bike is a Santa Cruz Blur LT, bright blue, with a 20 inch frame, 26 inch wheels and has front and rear suspension

"If anyone knows this alleged thief or his whereabouts, or should see the missing mountain bike, they are encouraged to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-131," said RCMP Cpl. Richard De Jong in the release.
