i dunno, looking at the site i think i might take the 2.0 over the 3.0...
cheaper and only a difference of 66vf and 66vf2. then dhx 4.0 and 5.0
not a biggie but less cash out of my pocket..

Is that you in the pics, Corey? If so, nice job piloting the bike. Looks like some sweet Crippler action to me but I could be wrong.

I noticed this contradiction in the article:

Rocky Mountain makes all of their high-end frames right here in BC

high end rockies are built in delta, BC low end are just cookie cutter frames(made in china).
In order to be able to activly compete they need cheaper frames, think in china there paid 25 a week, here 25 an hour. prices go up 125$or more per bike with handmade frames
Devinci does the same thing, basically unless you spend 800 dollars or more your frames made in some garage in hong kong.

Overseas manufacturing uses some of the best technology available in the industry. There are many cases where the quality exceeds what can be done locally at a viable cost.

Low end frames are low end frames. But, the kind of bikes we ride and discuss on this website and with our riding buddies are a step above, and are a product of skilled labour, regardless of the geographical location of the facility.

It definately brings down the unit cost building overseas. But let's not lower ourselves to claim the fabrication as "some garage in Hong Kong", because I think everyone here knows better.

Whoa, when you say "overseas" manufacturing, are you painting China and Taiwan with same brush? I mean, the original poster cited cheap Chinese labour rates, but as I recall the Taiwanese are the ones with the great reputation in our industry. For example, the Specialized SX Trail is a great bike made in Taiwan, but it would cost much less to build in China. So, it's still a lot of coin for us to buy a SXTrail, but we don't sacrifice any quality over the domestic offerings. Chinese are on the rise, but they don't yet have the same infrastructure or skilled labour, wages or working conditions which are on par with Taiwan.

So let's keep it down on the 'overseas manufacturing' and be more specific because there's a lot of variation out there. It not just a Delta, BC vs. Overseas discussion.

Coming back to the Switch and the review - I'd like to see nsmb list the competition for bikes they review, much like they do with car reviews. So, with the Switch, list the SX Trail or Preston and their prices. All the peeps who say the RMB is too pricey could then see that the price tag is in line (or out of touch) with the competition etc.

..and Tyler Durden hits one WAYYYYY into the left field!

This thread is about a bike review. If you'd like to start a discussion about manufacturing locations, feel free to start a new thread, but I think it's been done before. Try a search, there were some great responses, and some from people in the industry who really know what they are talking about. I simply responded to a comment that was innacurate, and wasn't looking to turn the thread into something else.
