Just thought I'd ask here in case: Linux X server question.

Yeah yeah.

Anyway, I've got my gentoo setup pretty nicely the way I like it, I'm running XFce4, and I'm having a bitch of time closing and/or making the port 6000 that X listens to unavailable to the outside world. I've heard that it complains if it doesn't listen, but you can make it listen on localhost instead of my outside network. This is the only port that turns up on my nmaps (which is 4 less than the supposedly "secure" win2k box beside me!).

Anyway. seand? anyone else?

Ah yes... I've heard that this is what's supposed to be done.

I'm still a linux newb in many respects (most). Whats the command for this (if you don't want to type out an essay on the subject, just give me the command, I can read the man pages as well as anyone else)?

Thanks.

I havn't used X in a long time, but I'm sure in the X server config file you'll be able to specify what ip/port to bind to also... tehre is a separate argument if you run the server manually. But that's kinda silly.

Check the conf!
