Looking for Mangled North Shore Rack

Wasn't sure where to put this thread so I dumped it where I thought most people would see it.

I'm looking for someone who has destroyed a north shore rack somehow. I need bits of one of these racks, specifically the part that holds the bike, for a project I'm working on.

Any leads?

trying to get reducers

I called 16 shops to try to get reducers from 1 1/2 to 1 1/8 trying to see if anybody has a set or know of any shop that has in stock .I don't want to wait around for ordering mighty,overtime,and dizzy can get them from a supplier called wheels manufacturing,and problem solver. I know that they come with certain frames and not everyone needs them if they run the wider steer tube.
My frame is a 2011 demo 8 trying to run a chris king 1 1/8 th with fox 40 fork without buying the hope head set.
See i crack lots of frames and i have like 5 extra headsets i hated the fsa that came with the frame cause it has clearance issues ,then i got reducers with a syncros deep cup assembly but was missing the wedge ring so i tried to mix and match and i have play which will kill my frame so fast. long story short bike is in shop cause im sick of this prob and im trying to source the part . I know there are some mechanic guys that read these threads so can you check in the back ill buy you beer or give you 30 bucks. Or a free ride to whistler and back thanks guys.

is there any point in ever buying the $30 rebuild kits, or just using them until they're worn out and tossing them? is there some bearing part # that I can buy from a local source for $15 to rebuild these?

Help Choosing an All-Mountain Bike

I'm looking to buy a new all mountain bike as a 2nd bike. For shuttles & park I wiould use my fairly heavy Devinci Frantik. But I seem to be doing more and more all-mountain'ish riding and would like to do more in Squamish, Whistler and Vancouver island. I would probably use this new bike for Fromme rides as well.

But I think i'm defiantly more of a rider that likes to ascend to get to the good descents, so It seems I would be better suited for a beavier 160mm fork.

I'm finding it hard to choose a bike though, there are so many all mountain bike options out there! The main contenders i've been looking at are as follows.

The prices are the best I've been able to find locally and are all new bikes. I test rode all these bikes in parking lots except the Enduro, but its really hard to know how they will feel on the trail. I defiantly was more comfortable on the large forks and the Range probably had the best feel right off the start.

I'm very indecisive though and they all seem so similar its hard to pick.

I'm a bit confused why the Trek Fluid is so much cheaper though, the kit isn't really any less than the others.

Forgot to mention I'm 168Lbs and 6 foot.

Dakine Truck Pad + Warranty

Anybody have any experience with the newer style Dakine Truck Pads? The ones with the extra little pads on the sides to prevent bikes from falling off the pad?

Anyhow, I bought mine last spring. And it very quickly started falling apart where the straps meet the seems. So I e-mailed Dakine (as the shop I bought it from is in the Interior - far from home). And at first they seemed very responsive to replacing this under warranty (lifetime warranty and all). But then they told me it was out of stock. And they had no idea when they would get more. And that was months ago and now they just don't respond to my e-mails asking about what is going on.

So. Anybody else have bad Dakine truck pad/warranty experiences? Maybe some of the copycat pads will be a better option moving forward.

Fox 36 Talas Maintenance/seals

Hi all,
I'm gong to get off my bum and start doing a bit more of my own maintenance. Partly driven by the PITA factor of geting to a bike shop after work and then missing a ride opportunity. Just the basic stuff for now, not a cartidge rebuild.
Is anyone here using the Enduro dust wipers? I gather the alternative is the revised Fox low-friction wipers.
Is any 7wt fork oil going to do the job or should I go for Fox branded stuff?
I see a bunch of online places (USA) to get parts, is there a local source of (reasonably priced) parts? My LBS has them but at twice the price of the online guys.

Best 6" fork to replace FOX 36 RC2 Air

My 2005 Specialized S-Works Enduro has a set of FOX 36 RC2 Air forks that are completely punched (according to James and I believe him cause he rocks). I want a new pair of similar durability. I wrecked this pair with three years of Cypress every weekend with at least 4 Whistler days per year. So I got my money out of them.

FOX forks are pretty expensive new so I'm looking at alternatives. Been scouring Pinkbike and the Buy n Sell forum for possibilities but I'm not entirely clear which forks would suit my bike and riding style. As I bought a big bike this would be a Fromme rig so I still need a bit of beef.

I'm also interested in a fork that doesn't need quite so much attention. I really love the FOX forks but they really do need to be serviced a lot.

Suggestions?

I just bought a cheap bike rack but it didn't come with an adapter to allow the 1 1/4" tubing to fit in my 2" hitch. Anyone know where I can get one locally?
