AHA! The cunning trail pixies have hatched a plan!
Sweet. Hopefully I won't have to work out the racing line down Goat's Gulley... the "fast line" off the side of the bridge looks a little too spicy for me!

If you ride OS, you have ridden most of it on the upper section. Duffman is known to everyone.

not too confused, sounds like it would make a good run, i would rather have a super long air DH style like freight train into dirst mechaint or angary pirate into a-line or crab apple hits into the rest of a-line into lower a-line into glc drops
motorp
07-14-2007, 12:49 AM
I think that we are staying mostly on single track for the Garbo DH. In a way its safer - less speed and air, and more like a DH. Enter the Air DH for jumps.

I am thinking about heading up this weekend with some friends from out of town. I realize that it will extremly busy with the Crankworx festivities kicking off but does anyone who works at the mountain know how the training for the Garbo DH will affect the riding on the upper mountain for general public. Will certain trails and/or sections of trails be closed. If so, what specifically will be closed and at what times?
Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

my guess is that pritty much everything is open expt the race course obviously. just they will have course marshals where there is a section where u have to cut threw the course to get to the next trail and they will let u go under the rope.

by pretty much everything you mean THE ONLY other trail for now?!Unless If they do come up with a new trails soon ,I'm afraid you wont have too many options to start with...

So I rode much of the course today in the rain cause its not supposed to stop, it is taped somewhat, after the of OS instead of heading up hill and riding down beside Shalemaster, we head down Orange Peel for a wee bit and into the trail to the Treefort, then through the tunnel and down to the hip, there was no tape down GG and I didn't see any more til In Deep, which is super fun right now in the the muck and super slimey roots. Are we heading down the triple hump? Yeehaw. Lower In Deep was closed otherwise I think we are heading down there to Duffman......oh it was foggy and rainy and really wet, gonna be a sloppy race.....and the lower course is good too, Monkey Hands has seen some work.....

As of yesterday, the course has changed. The new section around Bear Cub is not going to work out due to all of the rain. It is freshly machined and turned into soup. Therefore, we will run the course as is above this section and and use Bear Cub, then instead of heading back to Creekside Mid and having a lame race, it will go down In Deep to Containers and then the normal route.
It will be challenging, especially in the wet, but better than racing on a bunch of lame roads.

Rad! I wasn't too pleased when I heard about all the "lame roads" we had to ride down. Now I just have to figure out that chundery right hand turn on bear cub beside goats gully....

Got a few pics of the race from the off camber corner on Monkey Hands today. Loads of riders made it out despite the slop up top. Amazing to see how fast some people really are. Anyway, check out the writeup and pics here:

Had any power outages at Whistler when he gets on the bike? Strange lights at night around the IronHorse pit? :)
