I'm looking for some xc trail suggestions to ride with the wife. Something not too hard and not too much climbing, similar to all the stuff around Lost Lake (Dwarf Nebula, Toads, Etc). Anyone have any suggestions?

Would Farside and Riverside be good canidates? Thanks.

ive never ridden anything outside of the park but i hear the best xc trails are around lost lake, and in the village at the information centre you can actually get a trail map that has rating on the trails(green, blue, black etc.) so that may be useful... ive never ridden anything so i cant give you an expirienced opinion on what and what not to ride

I haven't ridden it yet but cut yer bars is supposed to be blue and pretty fun. Go and ask around at the bike shops they will be able to get you going in the right direction.

Emerald Forest, River, Mels Dilema, Rebob, Lost Lake.....the Riverside and Farside are much like Tin pants but a good rip non the less.....

yeah riverside is good for more beginner terrain, the climb up to loggers lake is a bit steep and loose, but the trail coming down is worth it, it's not too long...

The ride out to Cheakamus lake is nice too.

Kill me thrill me is more up and down, getting more technical. Flank is great or variations there of, but lots of climbing, with great views!

So, I have seen a few XC riders, mostly couples riding around lost lake.

I want to ride Comfortable numb but I am not willing to ride it on my own for safety, is anyone else planning a ride there before monday?

Also, I began to ride River runs through it and the dense forest at 7am had me concerned about close encounters with bears and such, not to mention again just riding on my own in a technical ride. Should I be worried about the wild life, and is the time a day any real concern?

Love this place!

I have run into bears in the past. This year I haven't, at least in my area down in the cay and when I ride in alpine, I just don't see them as bad this year (although by all accounts its been a busy bear year)...blackbears are basically big pussies. If they hear noise they will bolt. (unless its mommy) so I really don't think you have anything to worry about. There are some folk who have been riding these woods for over 20 years and wildlife doesn't even phase them.

I was THINKING of riding it this week, as I am getting the big bike tuned for Crankworx, buts its warm out there, I may be heading to Kill Me Thrill Me this afternoon too. As far as seeing other XC riders go to a Loonie on Thursday nights, there are shitloads of AM/XC riders here, 305 came out for the Dustys ride! And the quality of bikes is nuts, just like the bike park but different angles and travel.....and ya just got to worry about cougers not bears so much unless they are real small and you don't see a big on around.....

Hi Guys,

I'm flying into Van Saturday 21st and will be in Whistler from the Sunday for about 3 weeks. I ride mostly XC/AM since where I'm from, FR doesn't really exist, but I do like things a bit more technical.

Medeco....will you be around then? I would like to have someone to ride with, specifically also for Comfortably Numb as it's apparently not advisable to go that one alone?

Have joined WORCA and will be doing the Loonie races for sure.

Anybody wanna show a brother around?

Cheers

Wait a second, Whistler has XC trails:???: I thought that all Whistler had was DH runs and the bike park.

Yeah, thats the impression you get in the village, but man this place is heaven for all types of riding.

I am out of here monday morning.

The heat is bad but compared to the same temp in Atlanta Ga but with twice the humidity, this is nice.

Temp is coming down any way.

Sorry for the short notice.
