My brother is a Whistler local and has never, ever, been on a mountain bike in the park and hasn't ridden in 7 or 8 years. But, since it was locals day on Sunday, he wanted to rent a bike.
So, I go up and we go riding. We hit some green circle path and then B-line, Crank it up, Devil's Club and one other a couple of times. Him and his buddy were doing pretty good so they wanted to hit harder trails, specifically A-line.
I was suprised, he hit the beginning drop no problem and managed the jumps alright. He even managed to roll the A-line rock drop!
All in all it was a good day and I was impressed for a first timer. I apologize for contributing to the slow riders on A-line.

For his first day of riding in 8 years that sounds really good. But why would you live in Whistler and never have hit the bike park?

Wow. That's suprising. But really good. Props to him!
I saw a guy riding Whistler who hadnt ridden a bike in 8 years. He was all over the place and fell on the last berm into the village. It was kinda scary.
Props!

at least he can make the jumps. When I was there this weekend there was a group of crappy riders and the first 2 almost crashed on that skill testing drop on aline and then the next one just goes under the rope and skips it. They get to the first real jump under the chair there and the first guy eats it. Some people should learn their limits.

That's awsome, sounds like he still has it.
I'm fine with people who know what they are doing on A-line, they'll let you pass. On the other hand, theres people rolling every jump on a line barely having enough speed to roll the next one. They are the bad ones haha.
Well sounds like your friend will get way better if he keeps riding the park.

I have a few friends that won't. They ride however and stick to their guns about earning the downhill.
