to anybody who know's me or has been out riding with me, this may come as a bit of a shock....
I'm the new captain of my university DH team.
shock horror!, me race.....
neways, I'm looking into satring up some sort of small league with local uni's, and probably local riders too, just to get some events going, cos this year we haven't done much in the way of races.
neways I'm happy if a bit suprised.

just cos I'm captain doesn't mean I'm good btw!!!
sure I'm not that slow, but I'm no racer, but our team isn't really very good, so I'll hold my own in the club standings, and we shall have some fun comps!:D
the sig is sweet, thank pennywise for making it for me, and thanks dave (big air smite) for taking the pic.

Keith, does that mean you're down at Hopton in 2 weeks to race the BUSA championships?
If so, then the course is a good one - a bit pedally, but the best is at the end, a pair of 15-20 foot long stepdownd, followed by a section lik ebeing in a bobsleigh, then a steep dual course with hipped doubles and a hipped stepdown to finish.....

argh gad damnit, that sounds like an awsome course, but I'm going to be playing hockey in dublin, I booked it up before I heard about that race, I was pissed off when I found out I would be missing it, but the current captain is going down with a couple of guys for a laugh!
enjoy it!

was here when I arrived, and I got into it pretty easily to be honest, it's not a huge team, and the riding standard is not awsome, but it's great fun!
At my uni you can start up just about any sports club, as long as the uni see fit, and they fund it for you to an extent!
We do the odd races round about as a team, and can individually enter events, and the club will help us pay for expenses etc...
It's all for good fun though, we are not that serious a club, we could do all sorts of uni sports arranged fitness sessions and weights etc... but we don't want to make the club that formal, we would rather have a more relaxed feel to the whole riding experience!

hahha thanks keith, but I was really pretty slow down a-line compaired to anybody who raced, and lots of people who didn't. You just about kept up with me on a hardtail!:D
thanks everyone for the congrats etc...
and dave, I'm starting to get faster, and go bigger, did a slight no footer over a 10 foot double the other day!:D
cheers guys!
ride on!
Congratulations there K Man.
I dont know how you fair at DH, but you seemed alright at the djs (I was kinda sick at the time... wasnt really paying too much attention)

hahaha yeah I'm spending next week playing (grass) hockey in Dublin, against the posh boys from oxford and cambridge uni's.
Ok so I know you guys all like ice hockey, but the way I play grass hockey, it's kinda similar, sorta....
looking forward to the drinking... oh and the hockey as well now I think of it, should be a laugh, I can't wait to break some people!:P
yip I am going to the home of the black stuff!:drunk: I'll have a couple for you guys!:D

sweet we should meet up next term!
I'm sure I can sort it out to hire a transit van or something, and get people and bikes loaded up.
Your probably way better than us, but hey it will be fun!
around here there is some cool riding....
about 20 miles out of Durham there is a DH course, which is a good length and has a bit of everything, it's good fun to ride, and by now they should have built up the biker cross course, which sounds like it is going to be awsome!
there is also a small dual course in durham, only has 3 jumps, but is good fun to race down!
we have also built some of our own jumps, newest creation is about a 10 foot double, it's super smooth!
are you part of a biking club or nething??
I easlly want to start up some north east england DH comp, should be fun!

Congrats!
I guess that North Shore experience looks good on your resume... ;)
Oh, and as for hockey, you're right in it is not the same. Field hockey is much more dangerous. :D

Sweet! Keep it up! Doubles... I remember only a couple of months ago you were saying they scared you, nice one :)
We're going a ride on Saturday, Craig's told me about a 60ft high skinny, thinks I'm mad for even saying I'll take a look but hey, should be interesting, wont be the same without ya! :'( Ride On! Get back here ASAP, got a lot of riding to catch up on! :P
P.S. field hockey scared the crap out of me! Especially playing with Rogan, glad I never came up against you Keith!

60foot high skinny, he must be taking the piss.
maybe he doesn't really now just how skinny something has to be to be called a skinny, either that or he can't estimate height well!
Playing hockey against me is fine, as long as I'm not syced up!
I'm ok with doubles now, hitting any new jump is a bit freeky at first for me still, as I have to get the right speed etc...

 aye there's the 'downslope jump' which is a long long long jump (most say around 30ft) to downslope (thus the name) that goes into a 30ft double. its big.

Just fly at it, the jump leading into it just needs a lot of speed, Dave starts pretty miuch right at the top of the hill, nutter :D We'll look at it.
