Dear Mr. Whistler Bike Park

What was with those long line ups today? Why didn't you open the Gondola? Paid a lot of good money to stand around most of the day.

I thought the gondy was still under construction?

Anyway, a busy day in Whistler is better than a sunny day in Ontario.

At least you guys have mountains!

You realize that the gondola was being repaired/rebuilt? Did you notice on the whiteboard at the lift that the gondola and Garbanzo will be open next weekend?

its on the board at the bottom of the lift, how much more confirmation do you need. The gondy has always been scheduled to open the 30th, no if ands or buts......no matter how busy the bike park got.....the gondy ain't running til Saturday....

We have been honest with everyone at the start of the season:
1. Gondy has to be repaired
2. We warned everyone that it will get busy
3. We asked everyone to plan their riding accordingly - ride early, ride late or ride during the week if you can.
4. Gondy will be back in action June 30th, this Saturday.

We don't like the fact that some of you had to stand in long lines, but there is nothing we can do about it. Sorry.

On a happier note - Garbo WILL open on June 29th, this Friday.

Oh my fuck. That's just going to be a huge mess. You can still see snow on the lower parts and I bet it's still covered at the top.
ps. I didn't even bother riding Saturday. The lines were too long. Thank god I live here and have nothing to do all week during the day:lol::???:

This Saturday was the longest I have seen the lines get so far, and even then, if you get creative with your riding (maybe rally trails you don't normally take) you can maximize your time on the mountain. Plus, the singles line moved quickly all day Saturday. It got empty later in the day...and for those around on Sunday, there was nobody riding...felt like a sunny midweek day :)

You guys have done a great job with everything...thanks!

In deed... was killer fun both days... by Sunday afternoon... we got to do continual runs...

The trails up there are mint, RedBull stuff is crazy smooth!

Congrats to the winning team and open the closed one please.

Silver Star has created a bench mark...

Super RAD trails... and no line ups... killer vibe and great riding!

Roakstar, World Cup... mmmm.... Double Dog...

Killer!

Oh but I also love Whistler and will be stoked when the upper is open.

Keep up the good work guys... the Trails in Whistler were sick last Sunday!

Go to Sun Peaks. Its full of super fun single track and there are no line ups at all. You bike right onto the lift. The only time I have ever seen a line up was on opening day and thats because it only costs $2. Soooo many fast single track trails!!!!

Made 3 runs with my son & then another 4 by myself. That's right about the single line-it went fast. One tough trail was Devil's club. Not usually tough, but with the greasy ladders it was pretty hard not to let the back tire slide off.

Yeah, that trail always takes a while to dry. Wasnt too bad in parts though.

i was going to head up but i checked the web cams and said screw it....the lines were backed up all the way to the end of the metal fencing/dividers
how long was the wait in line approximately today?

like 7 minutes. Wasnt that bad and it was smaller then bigger every run.Singles was fast though. Jut did longer tech runs instead of a rip down a-line right back to the lift line.

i was thinking that life must be hard when it's too difficult to stand around chattin with yer buds for 10-15 minutes while you wait for a 7 min ride up to access 1000ft of vert of some of the funnest trails around.

You gotta be kidding. Sun Peaks needs to figure out what they are doing. Only every fifth chair was set up for Bikes and we spent 35 minutes in line covered in misquitos at ~3:30pm (The hill closed at 5pm). We did one run then said screw it. It is one thing to be waiting in long lines, but it is another to wait while four empty chairs pass by. (plus the quad was only set up for three bikes with no singles line).

That said, my ticket was 2 bucks, so can't really complain, but after riding whistler all week monday to friday, that Saturday was a shock.

that's too bad. they used to load the bikes onto the chairs (one hanging, one laying on the seat) but i guess they're not doing that anymore.
