View Full Version : What sells a bike to you

Roasted

This thread came to mind after I continue to read about people not satisfied with curstomer service, warranties and anything else involving the company itself. It made me think why do people here buy the bikes they do. If you go to any forum and do research you will find the same companies having warranty replacement problems yet people buy those bikes and then complain when they are slow, charge for 50% or don't warranty it at all...so here is the question.

What is you primary concern when buying a bike...

1 - cost
2 - value (cost vs strenght)
3 - strenght
4 - warranty
5 - customer service
6 - ahhh coool I hear this bike rocks let buy it without knowing squat diddly about the company

Better yet list them in order of importance since all of these are important.

1 - Bang for your buck. Versus what else is available in the same price range (for you... deals at shops and whatever influence this)
2 - Cost. Pretty much the same thing as #1
3 - Strength. I hate broken parts, and stronger things last longer. However, weight does play an influence in this category. Too heavy = not fun to ride
4 - Experience/opinion. Having ridden last years model (yours or a friends) and liked it, or having heard good/bad words about a company/product
5 - Warranty. I wasn't expecting warranty on my bike cuz I had hookups, but I got it on my fork when I broke it. Sweet.
6 - customer service. I got my bike through hookups, so I wasn't expecting customer service much, because I'm not hooked up at any shop. #1 beats out #5
7 - Looks. Ugly bikes suck, but you can always paint em.

when i bought my bb7 frame i looked at it and even did some research to find out what i get for warrenty.... i read a ton of reviews and found out that not many people have problems with them....
i always buy new things when i need soemthing new.... ive bought one thing used on my whole bike

didn't you buy your bb7 frame used?
you know theres no warenty with it then right? i really like bb7's but there were lots of problems with the 01's.
what year is yours?

i don't buy complete bikes, parts then build it myself. i just look for something i can ride hard. i get a new one it seems every 6 months anyway.

You sponsored? Great performance is cool but what if you have to buy a new one every year because there is no warranty and you broke the frame...(I guess you could be rich too)

Yes I am sponsored. No I do not break frames. I've never broken a frame, so it works out.

But either way that definately explains the view. I suck, if I rode a dually would probably break frames so having my ass covered would be a good thing until I become smooth (not bloody likely ;))
