I've got an older RM Blizzard (steel frame) I'm building up. I would like to run a disk brake in the rear, but it doesn't have a mount. Can I have one welded on without destroying the frame? If so, does anyone know anyone who can weld one on for me? Thanks!

these work

usually by the time you add the kit,buy the disc brake ,buy wheels that can mount a disc its cheaper to buy something that already has discs

if it doesn't have a disc mount I highly doubt its still under warranty

Probably won't work with a steel HT, but if the frame has big flat drop outs like an aluminum HT or some Ti HTs, the A2Z adapter works well. I'm using one on an old Cove Hummer.

NS Sports Swap at the bottom of Mtn Hwy was able to order one in for me.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll get in touch with Mike. Found out that Dekerf can weld disk mounts on too, for about $125, I think.

Or you could just buy a set of XTR V brakes and save yourself some weight.

V brakes and rain don't work so well together.

V brakes also don't like bent rims.

I don't like V brakes.

Back in the days before disk brakes, for ultimate braking power we ran Magura HS-33 hydraulic rim brakes. I still have a couple of HTs with them on, and they still work well.

I love those brakes - I'm still ticked I sold off my set years back cause I had no money. Once you had them set up, they were awesome.... although they did chew through rims pretty effectively.
