Just bought one of these. Huzzah for Fisher! (Yes I know it's Trek...)
It arrives in about a week. Can't wait.
X9 bits, Avid BB7 brakes, SRAM/RockShox 409 Air fork. Yes, a steel frame.

That's pretty cool, even though its a hardtail. I loved Fisher's old XC hardtails with that Genesis geometry and all. What's the MSRP on that bad boy?

Looks great. I love my 853 XC bike.

$1799 US...
I got it from Kulshan Cycles in Bellingham. Too bad the previous Fisher dealer in Bham (Fairhaven Bike) has decided to become a Specialized concept store, I liked buying from them...
The Genesis geometry works pretty well for me. I'm about 6' tall but my torso is relatively long, proportionally, compared to my legs. One of the first sizing things I look for on a bike is virtual top tube length.
Interesting benefit that it has an eccentric bottom bracket. Future conversion possible into a singlespeed. I wonder how the Bontrager crankset will be, I've only used the cheaper Bontrager cranks before. Looks sort of like a clone of the XT design.

Bontrager makes some good stuff nowadays.

Is yours orange? I'm digging that colour, and the subtle graphics.
Looks like a winner to me. Slap some hydro Juicy 5s on there and you'll be set.

They come in just one color, orange...
I've had bikes with the BB7 cable disc brake before. Set up right they can be very powerful. The key is to use a good lever. LX M570 series V-brake levers work great. But you're right, the Juicy 5 are very affordable now too...

Avid Speed Dial Ultimate levers are the ticket. Their buttery ball bearing smoothness and adjustability make the BB7's almost feel like hydraulics. Then again for the price of the levers, you can almost buy both sets of Juicy 5's...
