My stupid brake caliper leaked some fluid onto my pads, and after a whole hell of a lot of squealing, i found out i had lots of nice mineral oil on my pads. After trying to clean them with isoprophil, which did nothing, i tried torching them. Only do this with full sintered (metallic) pads. Torched them until they smoked, let it cool 10 seconds, torched till it smoked let it cool, torched it once more, then let them sit and cool for an hour. Took them back, lightly sanded with 2000 grit, isprophyled them, and WOW ! Work like new again. I could trials ride with them  So if you get fluid on your full metallic pads, torch em and theyll work good as new!

Ya know, there's a much simpler and effective way of dealing with this, but I have beaten it to death.

brake klean!

Or is it Brakleen? I thought there was something odd like that. Anyways, it didn't do all that much in my experience, but I'll wait until I have some full-on brake pad disaster to re-assess its effectiveness.

Torches are wayyyyy pricier.

Unless you already have one. In that case, darn you.

next time apply some fukken wax on your fukken brakes, it might not help at all but i would gladly apply fukken wax to my bike anytime

But the internet said that brake cleaner leaves an oily residue on the pads:lol:

If moto mechanics use it, it must be far superior to anything mtbers can even dream of.

Yea, this torching of brake pads only exists in the dumb ass world of mountain bikes. If you tried that at a moto shop, they'd laugh at you and hand you a can of brake cleaner.

OK, for us slow people, you're saying that brake cleaner will fully remove DOT brake fluid from pads, rotors, etc...? Or just mineral oil?

Everything. Motorcycles use DOT fluid.

Yup, It'll take off all of it. ONLY IF YOU HAVE FULL METALLIC PADS .
