I think we have gone well over a week without any one posting a thread about what the best tire is for a certain corner of a certain trail when it is slightly damp but with rain in the forecast on a full stomach when I'm pissed off with my girlfriend/boyfriend/dog/cat/pigeon and I need to cut my lawn.

After watching a former national champ ride though the Don when it was slightly muddy all the while clearing roots, rocks, stunts, and hills. All the while doing it on a 700x23C slick tired Specialized road bike. Then to add insult to injury clearing the dirt jump areas Rythmm section and wheeling around the berm on the same bike.

I'd say the entire tire/tread arguement is null and void.

I'd recommend a banshee scream or a norco 4x for what your doing! if you want a little less travel, probably a 243 dh with a 888.
