...a line (no, not A-line) up onto the landing for the big gap so's I can hit the QP without having to hike up from the bottom. Maybe a hip or two like last year???

P.S. I've been very good all season and have not passed anyone in the air on A-line, nor ridden my bike through the village even once.

You have been a good boy indeed. Your wish has been granted. Marty should have it done by the weekend.

I cannot agree with you more. I would like to thank Mr. Pro for browsing the boards and acting upon rider feedback. Its a huge positive for the park if you ask me. Thank you so much!

The new hip is sooo nice. Built on an angle with the landing so you can go as big or as small as you want. Landing is butter and it makes the QP so much more accessable.
The double step up line is still a little green, but it promises to be sweet as well.

Once again,

THANKS!

cant wait to try this hip. I havent been up the park in a week, so I have no clue what the boneyard even looks like right now. So excited to get back up. Hopefully I'll be riding tomorrow.
Thanks for the building bike park crew!

I want a fast, shallow grade trail that cuts a cross rhe mountain that is tech, rooty, rocky, flowy and fast all at the same time. there are trails that are tech, and some that are flowy and fast. I want all three!

Why can't I have all three?

I can't wait for some of the garbo trails to open!

The new hips, gaps and the double step up gives me a lot more to play with in the boneyard. Thanks for those, they are awsome. I already got my creek gap wish. I guess I'll have to think of some more...
how about a new landing for clownshoes drop?

Tom...is there any posibility of throwing up a couple more wall rides on the trails? ...I know there are a couple already in the boneyard and Upper CIU, but 1 or 2 nice curved wall rides somewhere on the trails would be cool :)

(all the silverstar pic's got me thinking about it)

Thanks :)

I would like a berm at the bottom of the boneyard. I've seen quite a few people go down at the bottom, and it would lessen the brake bumps.

Kyle,

I think its good the way it is. If there was a berm you would get hot-shots hauling ass which would pose a dangerous situation when combined with novice riders.

Actually, there are already two of these in the Boneyard.

With the steep jumps, it's two too many if you ask me.

Once upper Karate Monkey is finished, PLEASE let's race a Phat Wednesday down it. The lower half is just like the mellower tracks we race in England, and everyone loves to ride it, assuming the top half follows in a similar vein you'd be onto an absolute winner.

But then people will go flying into the plaza area. The off-camber turn/gate is supposed to slow people down.

No I think it would be smoother and help slow people down.

I can see a problem with the berm at the bottom, esp. since they are trying to clam traffic in that area anyway.
Though I would like a berm, the chunder does help slow you down to a "walking" pace.

Cooper

Then atleast make that breaking rut/messed up berm further back so we can corner it safely into the gates..

thom9719

I know how to corner, but I just think it would be nice if there was a berm and then they could just use some gates to "S" traffic through there to slow them down on the concrete (read : no brake bumps)

they way it is now is just not good for the landing of the BX course. it would be nice to be able to hit the BX and not have to slam on the bakes and skip down to the village.

How about fixing the set of four tables on upper A-Line so it flows like the rest of the trail. One jump would do in the space where there's four...

Not sure why they've been made so awkward - no-one I've spoken to here yet has said good things about them.

More jumps=better.

I am guessing the lips will be tweaked as the season goes on, remember it's a new section. Plus I don't think they're really that bad as is.

I love those 4 jumps! How about that jump after the rockdrop on A-line... Maybe making the part of the kicker that the people go off of when they take the rockdrop further towards the berm so its bigger maybe? Just so its an optional bigger gap just like the one on the creek gap on DM, except a dirt jump, not wood. Could be a bad idea maybe...

Kyle,

think how fast people rip off there now, with a chundery corner you HAVE to slow down, if there was a berm there people would be maching into the corral, not good...plus having a blown out corner with some good ruts in it forces you to figure out some good technique....

FlipFantasia
07-08-2007, 08:43 PM
I agree with the 4 upper jumps, while I haven't hit em up this year I found they lacked the flow of the rest of the trail....they always felt slow and awkward to me compared to how fast you could hit everything else....whatever, upper angry pirate to the lower part of upper aline always works nicely......

07-08-2007, 09:01 PM
the trick is to suck up the first 2 and make sure you pump real good down the second (those 2 are the originals) the next 2 are a little tougher cause the lips are long and don't have the best pop, but again try and air high on the third and pump really good down the tranny, and the last one you sometimes got to really pop to make smooth tranny, if its muddy and slow the last one isn't makeable often.......

I LOVE that jump after the rock drop! Try having a buddy take the line to the left that goes around the drop, then time it so that when you hit the drop and come around the corner, you're side by side and can hit the jump at the same time. Sooooo fun!

thom9719
07-08-2007, 09:36 PM
The 4 pack is perfect. you just have to hit them like dirt jumps, not pinn'er jumps. it's really easy once you figure it out, just go slow on the first one.

if you made the smoothest, biggest berm at the bottom of the boneyard, there would still be brake bumps. just look at a-line. theres braking bumps before, on, and after almost every berm. I'm not knocking a-line, I'm just pointing out some people love to brake everywhere they can and don't have to.

and personally, I really like those four tables on aline. I just stay low and whip my way through em.

ftw...how many times I've mind rode that whole area. I could see a rooty, techy,
mess with some drops, step up to log, with some log rides thrown in. If I remember
right, there's some rock walls ready for a wall ride or roll in.

Or....

Just make a dm/al kinda thing with jump after jump after jump...

I made a post on this a few days ago...nobody replied on it but I've read on the park's website a while ago they had plan to build a trail under the lift...Thing is now, I've heard they got their funding cut off because of the Olympics ... and judging by the lack of maintenance on the trail so far, I don't find it hard to believe.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the place and I'm sure those guys do their best with what they have but this year is BY FAR the worst as far as new stuff and fixing things up goes.Weird though, they did ask me MORE money for my season pass this year and I have yet to see a reason why...

All I would hope for is a new trail up top, don't care much where it would be as long as its blue and keep the traffic off OS

the 4 packs is super fun but they should be elsewhere IMO, wrong trail . A-line was all about pinner style jumps...

07-09-2007, 05:27 PM
I'm sure the funding cut has to do with huge gondie rebuild, capital projects have been tough for the past few years, and I doubt the millions they had to shell out, and the millions more next year make things easier

I was thinking exactly the opposite. So far this year, we've had, or will have soon-

CIU top to bottom,
Upper Karate Monkey,
Rebuilt sections on Devils Club,
An open Air Dome, (after extensive renovations I'm told),
Rumours of a blue trail down from Garbo (They don't always start building at the top, you know)
AND A completed Boneyard and Biker X at the START of the season instead of a week before Crankworks, like last year.

Also, remember that there was over a meter of snow in some spots up top, but it was still open on schedule for the long weekend no doubt after plenty of shoveling from our seemingly "absent" trail crew.

It seems like the powers that be in the Bike Park are checking the boards fairly regularly, so if you notice a section in dire need of attention, post it up and make them aware of your thoughts.

Just a suggestion...

I love it when I'm being half quoted, I said I have YET to see a reason for a raise in the price. But while I'm at it

CIU : not open
Upper Karate Monkey: not open
Devil's club, its a good one I'll give you that but there's nothing major there.
Air Dome is NOT within the bike park and it was there last year.

Rumours of the blue run under the lift are fading away, if you look at my post Ive started a thread a while ago about the trail but I haven't seen anything yet up there.

Bone yard is good I guess, for people who uses it, I don't and the boneyard is there every year, granted they finished it earlier this year but its probably because A: they couldn't work anywhere else when they opened the park and B: Crankworx is a major event for Whistler, therefore they put most of their energies where they know they'll get most visibility...$$$

That being said, again my props to the crew, I realize they do an awesome job and I'm thankful for that but me, and most of the people Ive been riding with the last 5 years all thinks there's something different with the maintenance this season.(Geez before you'd get to see something new or fixed every week! Plus you would see maintenance crew working on the trails everyday, nothing like that this year)

I could list a lot of things that haven't been fixed yet (almost mid July) but I don't see the point being negative toward a place I love.

I personally believe for some reasons they have less money than last year and its just my humble opinion.I meant to say something Ive been thinking for a while, perhaps I wasn't clear and sounded like I'm a big winer...Dear Tom all I want is to make sure everything is alright and I'm wrong thinking you got your funding cut off :P

the bang for the buck is great even with a price raise, we were getting more than our money's worth before, and still are in my opinion
