Great pics.I'm also thinking of getting the D40X,did you ever consider the D80? It's a extra $400 but I was wondering if it's that much better or too much for my small brain.
Did you consider the Canon xti?

I have an olympus, my sisters friend has the nikion. I was looking at the cannon but there is alot of cons apparently. I would look at the pentax series though.
