So i am thinking of replacing my current hardtail with a giant STP, bike is super nice, love the geometry, but im not soo keen on the DJ3 up front, I find it very inactive and feels like poo. I am going to be rising light freeride trails and djing this bike. I was wondering how the 4X compares to the dirtjumper 3 in terms of activeness and a plusher feel? any help greatly appreciated.

the 4X is a dj3 damper in an all mountain package with shorter travel.
Basically feels the same

Well if the 4X is goin to pretty much feel the same, than the 1.5 lbs. saving is not worth it. Whats the difference between a Pike and the Argyle? And will a pike hold up to djs and light duty freeride stuff?

4x is made for just 4x racing, and oddly i thought it doesn't have adjustable low speed compression damping (which is surely important to take out pedal bob for "sprint" racing which is what a 4X track is)
the Marz 4X is a cheap fork, lighter than the Marz DJ series but with a simple damping system
the Pike is another class of fork altogether, and the more expensive Pike forks with MOtion control damper will work pretty damn good, though its classed as "all mountain" fork its pretty tough with its strong crown/steerer, burly legs and 20mm Maxle
as long as you aren't nosing / casing DJs all day or a complete hack it should hold up fine

maybe get a Rock Shox Argyle or a Pike because they would work perfectly for your riding style!
