This is scary, I got my Costco flyer today and on Costco.ca they have the:
Cadillac AM2.7 All Mountain/Cross Country Bicycle - $1,199 cdn

With $30.00 Initial Tuning Credit - I'd be kinda embarrassed to visit my bike shop to even ask, and I'd be a little scared to ride this down a mountain. Apparently made by Kent bikes in the US, who also make the "My Little Pony" bike. :dizzy:

I'm looking forward to the review, since Costco has such a great return policy I'm sure some one will pick one up to "evaluate." -- note I did not say "evaluhate," but other than the Kenda Nevegals I'm not seeing any decent components I won't opt for in slightly more expensive bike (e.g., Brodie Rite), with a real bike store and mechanic to back it up...

This all mountain 27-speed Cadillac bicycle glides over rocky trails with ease thanks to its adjustable 4-bar linkage system and stout Manitou Nixon fork with 115 mm – 145 mm (4.5 in. - 5.7 in.) of travel. Included is a $30.00 initial tuning/setup credit which must be performed by a qualified bike shop to ensure that your bike is performing at its optimum level.

4-bar linkage system
Frame: 6061 custom aluminum with 101.6, 127 or 152.4 mm (4, 5 or 6 in.) adjustable travel

Front derailleur: Shimano FD-510 Deore
Rear derailleur: Shimano Deore XT

Crank: Truvativ Firex 22/32/42

So what's the matter with that frame? Looks pretty damn good for something you'd find next to a 24pk. of wieners.

Haha, I just new they would use that design.

Thing is, for the price, thats a pretty damn good deal.

Ya, i suspect that another company made the frame, noted, KHS. As far as costco goes, alot of suppliers "hide" their brand, and make it an exclusive costco brand. That way, they dont cut into their own profit margine. Thats why u can only get one type of nike shoe there. They flog it soo cheap, they would cut the throats of all their other suppliers, so they would only sell nikes at costco. As opposed to every other shoe, sport, and dept store. There are few places with a better return ploicy for sure as mentioned.

 Having built several myself, and seeing the that the entire handlebar assembly is held up by one bolt... You could be in for a little of this :hurt:

It's actually not too bad looking! For that parts spec at $1200, it's quite a good deal.

It's not a 4-bar though :nerd:

I've always heard mixed reviews on the Manitou Nixon Elite — but it seems more expensive than the Fox Float R which seems common on a lot bikes in the under $2,000 price range, and upon review it does appear to be fairly plush/squishy.

I'm just not sure about the 24 spokes set up...

But this might be a good travel bike, through it on the roof racks and go camping — lock it up, but you'd be less paranoid about some one walking off with this than your new Nomad or like bike.

I'd still be more trusting of a brand like Norco.

Solid bike for the price.

Everytime you go to cosco, you always end up walking out with five or six things you never intended to buy. Now people can add a 1K bike to that list.

costco was selling ride snowboards and binders this winter as well. Didnt Giant used to use that suspension design as well?

Anybody who buys one should take it to a bike shop to build it properly before riding it.

It's not a KHS frame, it's a catalouge frame, as are al of KHS bikes.

Sure looks trendy.

No doubt! I can just see some monkey in his blinged-out Escalade, with that bike on a roof rack as just another accessory...to up the trend factor. I would like to see it in person but I don't have a Costco membership. :(
