I had a good lesson on why we should do trail maintenance today - ran into a group of more than 20 (no really) soccer moms with Leki poles and dogs who had hiked dirty diapers- tnt and were headed up neds. At the entrance to Pangor met a guy hiking up the trail with his commercial dog walking business, and about 50 meters later ran into a trail runner running up the trail with her dogs!
I hadnt realised how many other folks use the "biking" trails. Does the NSMBA advertise anywhere else?

I've seen the NSMBA ads on Clubtread, but there was no response for the BP trail day, which surprised me a little.

and on the good news side - North Shore Athletics (http://www.northshoreathletics.com/) will be doing a MINI trail day in May as well on a multi-use trail. It won't be advertised here (unless I hear otherwise), but they'll be working on a multi-use trail with NSMBA's help. Kintec Footlabs (http://www.kintecfootlabs.com/) is also on board with AGM swag and deserts!
So, when you want to buy some new trail runners, you know where to go!

A couple of encouraging comments I found.
Who has the right of way on a trail, a biker or a runner?
Ans: Give the biker the right of way because it is easier for the runner to get out of the way. Runners should also give way to hikers and equestrians.
Thanks to people who participated in trail maintenance March 10. We built some impressive steps on Sea to Sky trail just before the Baden-Powell post and turnoff down to Suspension Bridge trail.

all are groups with a vested interest in north shore trails. we had some luck getting them out for the BP trail day, (mountain view park) a few years ago.
these groups also host trails days throughout the year. (although much smaller than NSMBA trail days)

On a side note about May 6:
Did you know that at three minutes and four seconds after 2 AM on the 6th of May this year, the time and date will be 02:03:04 05/06/07.
All right back to trail maintenance talk.

Uh oh.... studying for exams versus working on trails.... boring versus fun....
gah. If only it were next weekend... it doesn't look like I'll be able to make all the traildays this year then.

Is there anyone that can help me unload a chunk of cedar over on Fromme before heading over to Seymour? It'll take less than 5 mins but it's too big of a job for me to do by myself. Anyone that is available meet at the top of NH at 8:30.
bah, fuck homework, I'll try to come to the trail day instead.
fuck, I hate finding out I have more work and tests than I thought I did :(
