Ok after getting an email from Norco Australia saying the 4hun would be in around mid march I figured id wait it out. Now that mid march is here I thought id call my LBS and ask if they had any news. Well heres what they said. its been pushed back to May, maybe even june. This is bullshit. Im sick of wating but the fact is its such a nicely set up bike for what im doing theres not really anything else out there like it unless I wanna do a custom build! Im am so severly pissed off at the moment. I dont know what to do :(
norco customer service seems to have gone to hell!

It may cost more but have you checked into getting one imported to Aus? Shipping would probably be more the then the bikes worth though
Oh man! A feeling I know aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllll to well. I know how you feel too, since the aprts and the bike is what you totally wanted. My oppinion: get something else, do a custom build on a .243 frame, that frame would be so cool to have in australia, true canadian style.
It wouldnt be toooooo pricey to build it up to a street setup either, my estimate is around 1800-2000 candian for a decent setup.

OK. Well just got off the phone with my friend. He contacted his store whjo are more reliable and its definate. No stores will be gatting any stock till JULY!!! OHHH IM SUPER PISSED NOW. Options options. I dont know. 243 would be mad pimp but im not too keen on building and importing is a bitch. Gotta pay all sorts of taxes. I dont know what to do

IMO, I think you should forget about the Norco. From following BB updates, it seems like they have been dicking you around for months already. Like others have said, do a custom build with a really nice frame. I'd suggest either a .243 (or a morphine if you want to stay aluminium). Or just buy Dirt magazine and have a look at the many fine European famesets out there i.e DMR, Pashley, Revell, etc.
I'm actually looking at buying the Morphine from Canada as it doesn't look like we have a distributor in Australia.
You said the 4hun was the perfect setup? You can make your custom bike with a similar set up, and it would be much more unique.
Just my .02 :)

I'm not a huge fan of the gussets on the large Morphines, the 14 inch is absolutly rad tho.

what was the deal with your bikes? u break the norco, norco says "no warrenty" when they should say "$ponsorship" banshee says "here's a frame"?
on the site, the red one looks quite nice, the yellow one is UGLY, and the black one looks nice too (im not talking about colors, but sizes)
red = small yellow = large black= medium i guess?
seriously, just build something up. Norco frames arent all that nice anyway :)

Too bad, my experience with norco has been excellent. I broke my rampage frame a week before the test of metal last year. I took my frame to John Henry and in less than 48 hrs I had a new frame. Awesome customer support by both Norco and J.H. I couldn't have asked for more.

most of them are probably all accounted for at the shops? its hard for a huge company like norco to accomodate an order of one bicycle and have it special shipped several thousand miles away across the pacific ocean.
and like del said earlier, they only have the larges left?

Maybe people should get mad at the suppliers TO Norco that are late delivering parts rather than Norco who has to juggle their production schedule while they wait for late product. It's not like they sit around seeing how much later they can deliver bikes each year. Don't you think they want their money too?
It's pretty funny really because if no one wanted these bikes, no one would care when they were ready, but people want them so much they bitch.

Only problem I have is the sheer amount of 2003 DJ3 reg QR's.
The QR20 version may be OEM only, but if norco can get monster t2's and junior t2's, they should at least be able to get Marz to stick dj3 guts in dj2 QR20 legs.
The banshee boys did: http://bansheebikes.com/spec/morphine_pack_journeyman.php
Ot overtime, at formula 20mm hub is only $30 over a deore standard, they would be a lot less of a difference if norco was buying thousands of them.

It is basic business practise to properly manage your external depencies. If Norco fails on this point more than once, then they definitely have a problem with their project management and product procurement.
Norco is who the customer deals with, so it's Norco who the customer should get mad at.

If you phone a bike shop in Canada or even some where else in Australia. Get then to build u up a custom specked .243, or something similliar. If u explain the situation, they might even go easy on you cost wise.

I had a similar dilema about 2 months ago, tossing up over new bike versus custom build. I ended up with the complete bike, purely by luck. But for the 2000 bucks, you could almost get a custom build done. Say on a ctr boy bike frame (600 bucks) for another 2 grand you'd nearly have the compleate bike, from an oz company (not sure where the frame itself is made) and you'll get mad props from majority of the shops youd get this done at. Just a thought.
On the other hand if you MUST have the 4hun, good things come to those who wait. :)

join IMBA. i'm unsure of the dues, but it should be ~$40usd (~$60cad) (unsure of $aud). with an IMBA membership, you can fly your bike with you for free.
then, you make a trip to north america. stay with someone in van, ride the shore for a week. don't "live it up" with the posh stuff, just spend money on the necessities. also, you pick up a bike here in NA when you're visiting.
you hop on the plane, and the bike comes with you. for free.
if you can get the time off, the plane ticket should be approx. the same cost as shipping the bike/taxes would be. if i were you, its definately the route i would take...

It is, but in the bike industry all these suppliers are unrealiable, but who else will you buy a Fox shock, Shimano XT rear derailleur or Hayes brake from. No one. They are in an exclusive market, and if they can't keep up everyone suffers. Norco is most certainly not the only supplier that is delivering later than expected (hoped for) but they are the ones whose bikes are most sought after, hence all the negative attention.
I was just trying to shed some light on who really is responsible for the late bikes.
Five years ago no one cared where the Norcos were.

one thing you may want to consider is a specialized bighit. unless they aren't sold in australia. because if they are, they're basically as close to a norco as you can get, without the norco paintjob... that way, you don't need to mess with shipping, etc either.

I'm sure anyone would wear the bike in for you. Heck, one run at the shed or something, and it'll be done.
