We're meeting at 9:00 am at the bottom of Nicoles on Galardi. Wear appropriate footwear, gloves and long pants preferably. We will be working on two sections of the trail. Big juicy burgers (Veggie too!) will be provided by the Hop and Vine pub and the BMBA. For more info please visit www.bmba.ca
Cheers!

looks good, but why was this a "super secret BMBA Executive Only" trailday?
Nicole's needs waaaaaayyyyy more work, and more urgently than DM and Lower Snake. I think it should be the next one, I'm sick of having to replace the orange fencing every time I ride it.

Great Job!!
I take it this is a HUGE positive step forward in your dealings with the bureaucracy. I know it's been a long hard slog for you guys. Way to go!
Hey - LG: Is that your kidlets? Need to see them airborne on bikes.

Congrats!! Nice to see a step forward finally. Thanks for everyone's hard work battling behind the scenes.
I don't check the BMBA site much, so I guess I missed the info on this.
Just a warning though; in that last picture the guy on the left looks an awful lot like the description they have of the guy that's exposing himself in the schoolyards in Vancouver.

Good Question.
The city asked that our first trail day consist of only our directors and their city workers as a trial run. This limited us to about 30 feet of trail. Now that they have worked with us and have seen the work we're capable of they're welcoming us to invite all our members and other volunteers to future trail days.
As for Nicoles...
- Yes it's beat.
- Yes we're going to try and switch the dates around to make Nicole's a priority trail day.
- Please check these forums and the BMBA website for more details down the road.
Just a warning though; in that last picture the guy on the left looks an awful lot like the description they have of the guy that's exposing himself in the schoolyards in Vancouver.
He's a giant eh! 7 foot 3!
Great to hear your day was a success! I haven't ridden there in about a year, but I used to ride there a lot so I'll try to make it out to one of your days to put some love back into those trails.

Nice work ! I will post the traildays on the Surrey Boards as I know alot of the riders out there have been wondering if a trailday was coming.
There is one planned for June 23rd, are you still sending a rep out to Bike Fest in Surrey?
Most of us will be booked up that day with the fest but I'm sure we could make it to some of the others.
(ps this is the fest coordinator)

That's some nice work!
Curious, why are those dates for so far off in the future for Nicoles and Lower Snake? Why wait until those trails are beat even more? I believe many would agree that they need help now. Nicoles and Lower Snake could atleast use a trail day in May/June while the dirt is workable and hasn't reached it's typical summertime dustbin status ;) If anything, like mentioned, Dead Moped should be last on the list as it see the lease 'abusive' traffic. Just MHO.
Cheers and congrats to the BMBA!

In the next few weeks we will be updating on the BMBA website all information related to our trail days for 2007.
As mentioned our two main trail days will be August 18 for Nicoles trail and September 22 for Lower Snake, it is these two that we hope to get a good turnout. We realize that Nicoles is in need of work but at this point it may be difficult to move up due to schedules already approved by the city.
Thanks to all who have helped out in getting a trail maintenance program in place for Burnaby Mountain. It has been over 3 years since first approaching the city and countless volunteer hours to get to this point. We now have a program in place that will carry for years to come.

lammmmeeee... I think we're going away for that week.... lame..
Glad you guys are getting the trails in good shape. I'll be moving over there from the UK next year and seriously considering living up on Burnaby Mountian to be close to some trails. As of Jan/Feb next year you can count me in for some trail work and my fiancee if i can convince her to get her hands dirty.

Just a reminder that there is a bike skills park open house. It's your chance to help design a bike park so come out and give your input.
Time Aug 2 2007 5-8pm
Place- Old gun site on BBY mountain across from Barnet Marine Park.
This is just past the velodrome if you are heading from Burnaby to Port Moody on the Barnet Hwy. Turn south bound at Takeda Dr.

We will be meeting at the bottom of nicoles, just off gaglardi, at 9am. Various sections of the trail will be worked on, it all depends on how many people show up as to what exactly gets done. Lunch will be provided and we will have schwag to give away :D
If you ride nicoles (and who doesn't) this is your chance to give back and help rebuild one of the most popular trails on burnaby mountain. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks :)

it's actually the "BMBA" but that's ok, we'll forgive you :)
it's too bad we didn't get to fix up the "pole", but there's always something left to do for another day. major props to everyone that came out, i think we got a TON of work done and the trail looks so much better now.

Yup, sometimes you have to dumb a trail down a bit to control erosion. But we are building the woodwork bullit proof and big, so you can hit it with speed. That helps keep the thrill up.

It should be a good day. We have all material set and ready to go and anyone that was at the last trail day will agree it’s a good workout hauling everything up the trail. Our plan is to tackle the bottom part of Nicoles with a combination of rock work and new ladders. We will probably leave Lower Snake for a trail day early in 2008.

Thanks to Knnn for coming over and showing us his braid blocking techniques, God knows we need them on that trail.

A lot of volunteer hours went into yesterday and in within day someone has gone and tampered with the work.
The last ladder at the bottom of the trail has been uplifted moved and propped up to create a launch. It has since been repaired but it is action like this that will jeopardize any future trail days and biking on the mountain.
To the people responsible be more considerate or better yet take your riding somewhere else where your actions won’t affect anyone.
Fracking unbelievable.
A fine example of the me generation and screw everyone else :swearing:

And I can't believe the Karma this year, Sunshine on every BMBA trailday.
I still can't believe some little dipshit would screw with the bridge work less than 24 hours after it was put in.
Thanks again Dino for repairing it. Me and Wendy did a rip down there yesterday and all was good. You can really carry a ton of speed through the last section, super fun!

I had a great time on Saturday and it was nice to meet a lot of the Burnaby Mountain stewards. It was pretty awesome to see how fast things can get done with that many people.
Then it only takes a couple little shitheads to screw it all up. Karma will get them... hopefully in the form of a rash.
wow great job guys. looks super sweet and sorry to hear that some a-hole/s tampered with your work.
let's no all jump to conclusions on who did what. i'm sure whoever it was will some day learn about how crappy it is to have their hard work messed with. what comes around goes around. and if they are on here maybe they will start to think twice about making friends instead of enemies.
anyway great work and keep on shredding.

I rode SFU yesterday and would like to thank you guys for doing such a great job. We did our final run at around 2:30pm, and nobody had touched the end bridges yet. Maybe they were tampered with later in the day?
Anyway, I can't even think of anyone riding that day who would have done it. We chatted with a couple people on the trails, and I couldn't see any of them screwing around.
Regardless, the BMBA did a hell of a job, the trail is epic.
