Which ever one will hire you?

Couldn't hurt you to apply at all of them.

Due to your age, its really unlikely that you're going to get hired by any of them.

Something about child labour laws.....I think you gotta be at least 15 or 16.

Trust me kid, go and get a nice job slaughtering pigs or something. Anything but a lifetime of working on trashed Shore bikes for leftover burritos and half empty beers.

Much to my surprise, when I looked this up, I found out that BC allows children as young as 12 yrs old to work.

British Columbia's child labour laws now trail those of India
Hiring children as young as 12 remains legal in one of Canada's richest provinces (http://www.nupge.ca/news_2006/n13au06a.htm)

"Excerpt from the Employment
Standards Act of British Columbia
Hiring children
9 (1) A person must not employ a child under 15 years of age unless the person has obtained the written consent of the child's parent or guardian.
(2) A person must not employ a child under 12 years of age without the director's permission.
(3) On permitting the employment of a child under 12 years of age, the director may set the conditions of employment for the child.
(4) An employer must comply with the conditions of employment set under subsection (3)"

I had a job when I was 12...delivering newspapers and the like. It was the only way I could afford to buy anything.

Kids these days have it EZE!

Working in a bike shop as a teenager is about the best job around. After that it starts to lose its luster - imho - unless you are running the show or learing new things all the time.

Apply at all of them. The best one to work at is the one that will hire you. As you get more experience, you'll find it easier to get other bike related jobs around town.

Seriously, I remember some bs red tape coming up when we tried to hire someone who was a bit younger a few years back. It may have changed, but it was related to that hokey "training wage" deal.

If you REALLY want a job at a shop, offer to sweep up and scrub toilets for free for a while. If you fit in, you'll get the job.

Kim Steed is obsessed with a clean toilet bowl. Seriously.

I thought it was WCB that didn't cover workers under 16, but I can't find any proof of that.
