Just booked a ticket to Denver - 6 days of desert sun at the Fruita Fat tire festival! Anyone else heading down?
I'm stoked..... hopefully I can snap some pics to make Lee Lau jealous!

Paint me green Couch. Better start practicing your clunker crit skills now - just put a beer in one hand, a friend on the handlebar, and rip around in circles and you'll be good to go.
If any of you haven't gone - follow his lead and git yer ass down there for some of the best vibes and singletrack around. I'd be there, but I'm booked in for the Oregon festival (www.mtbikeoregon.com)instead. need more holidays dammit....

Fruita is some dope stuff. I haven't ridden there much but the photos always look good. I know its cliche but I assume you'll bust down to Moab for part of the trip?

Going with my buddy Noel - who has been quoted for a previous FFTF as saying "It's as much about the Tequila as the riding" ;)
Will be riding my HT Singlespeed (algthough I'm bringing the kit to make it 'normal' for when I puss out  )
Bryce - I doubt we'll get to Moab (real short trip - 6 days) unfortunately... (nothing cliche about Moab - I love riding there).
That Oregon festival is highly tempting as well. May have to join you TD!

Hahaha ... couch, you're looking very "tired" in that pic!!
:dizzy:
Kn.
I'm down in Fruita from Wednesday through to Monday, if you fancy hooking up for a ride gimme a shout! I'm also hoping to organise a couple of dawn / sunset photo shoots, the light out there at those times is unreal.

I'm reading the label intently - nothing to see here.
And where's the shot with all the dead sailors on the railing?

Damn "JustSomeGuy", you are quite the internet sleuth!
Unfortunately we can't make the ride this year...
We were just checking out the possibility of heading to St. George Utah in April next year.
Any interest in Mtn Bike Oregon this August?
BTW, what ever happen to all of your cohorts that keep saying they are coming up here and never actually make it?

Craig and Sharon, Mike has been plagued with other friends who have repeatedly bailed on his Shore plans. Sad. I also won't be getting up to Oregon for that deal this year. Enjoy.
In Noel's defense, the last time I saw him was in Tommy's (http://www.tommystequila.com/) in SF a few months ago.
Wait, I guess that wasn't in his defense.
If you guys are in town early (it sounds like it), Kevin is meeting us on Thursday, mid-day, in Moab for a Amasa/Pothole Arch/Rockstacker/Jackson's ride and I know he has room in his van for you guys.
We're heading right to the VIP party in Fruita after the ride...

Excellent - maybe we should do that ride!
Mmm - Tommy's - mmmm
Did Troy tell you that we left Tommy's Tequila Bar at 2am??? Next we had to drive 45 minutes back to San Jose. Then had to get up at 5am to catch our 7am flight. That was a ROUGH day (I'm not 22 any more!) But totally worth it for the Tequila!!!
:)
See you guys soon - is Mark coming out as well?
Cheers!

I'm game - nothing wrong with a quick side trip to Amasa back and some slickrock desert riding.

That festival looks so awesome. I've heard nothing but great things about it!
I did my first 24 hour race this year. The 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo. That was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone - so fun! - (I wrote about it here (http://www.asilvertouch.com/features.php?feature_id=139)) and one that I'm looking to repeat sometime soon. Trekking out to the desert to meet thousands of nutty bikers is quite a trip. I loved that the first thing we saw at the race site was a guy puking in the ditch next to his bike, with a giant big-gulp coffee mug in his other hand... at 11am on the morning of the start of the race.
Here's a little vid Kona made of that race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs0grlY-doY
Anyway, the Fruita experience sounds superb and I'll try to hit that one next year.
On the topic of Moab, I am going there in late August with my special lady friend. She rides but is still a beginner. Her fitness is top notch but courage is sometimes lacking. Sounds like some of you have been there recently. Any suggestions on good places to rent bikes and ride? Guided tours recommended? (my machismo is kind of against a guided ride, but I'm willing to listen to recommendations)
Alex
